What a fantastic video flick.I lived for a year in Port Townsend and never got to experience that part of Sequim. Closest I got was the 3 Crabs Restaurant. The crab cakes and crab burgers were super wombat onolicious grindz. Sadly that joint is long gone. A walk along that spit does a spirit good! Mahalo!

For those stumbling on this video and don’t know it, that’s the prison used for some scenes in the Blues Brothers movie. I lived close by back then and watched them shooting on the road between the two parts of the prison (the other side was the rock quarry). The sally port, the one where Belushi gets out of prison, appears at 0:32 ( lower left corner) and the road at 0:42 (runs along bottom) appears in the movie later. Driving the main road on the left side of the video (right side is a train track) the only thing you saw were the walls. The prison building itself was barely visible from the road. The prison parking lot that starts to show at 0:21 (top left) was full of cars and not really accessible to the general public. The intake building, not shown, was very visible from the road. The building is at the corner of Collins and Woodruff Rd. The main feature of that building was the Stone Lions out front. I often wondered what the inside looked like. I wonder no more. Many thanks for the video.

@@Not_a_real_guru well Iam 56 and I moved there in 1996… land was affordable, you could drive thru town without traffic jams, smaller tighter communities, etc…..that’s just me. My son had a landscape businesses and two of the property’s he maintained were near Walmart, people doing drugs, craping behind buildings, garbage everywhere, blue tarps and cardboard shelters, etc…. Not much support to get this issue cared for, it got dangerous a couple of times with confrontation just trying to do your job. Everyone is entitled now… so my son and his family left after 20 years of living there……

Sigh ... My parents lived out in Dungeness Estates from 1981 to 2011 when Mom passed. Many memories of visiting them, enjoying the area ... Hurricane Ridge .... walking the spit ... a girl I loved and her family ... and then settling the trust and selling my folks' home. Bittersweet. Now, there's ne'er a mark of my family having been there. Hope to visit again one day. Thoughts from Maryland.
