Very enjoyable video. But may I ask something? I was scratching my head about f/10.0 on your first image. you a very short depth of field and would easily have everything in the composition in focus at a wider aperture, which would give you a faster shutter and freeze the cows better? Also, I'm guessing, you'd have been closer to the lens sweet spot slightly wider, so I'm wondering if there's something I missed about the shot? Or something you didn't mention in the vlog... just curious. And a very nice vlog, though 😊👍
@myatesphotography4 жыл бұрын
Thank you D Griff , I'm glad you enjoyed the video . I usually shoot most of my Landscapes between f10 and f16 , the Abbey shot had nothing in the immediate foreground so f10 gave a stop faster shutter speed . I then stuck with f10 for the focus stacked image and again the last Sunset image I wanted a slight blur on the foreground.
@DGriffGallery4 жыл бұрын
@@myatesphotography Ah, I see. Many thanks for clarifying. I was thinking that you might consider a wider aperture in this sort of situation. Specifically the Abbey shot. Opening it up to say f/7.1 or f/8.0 would have no adverse impact on the DofF and would give you an even faster shutter, which would be beneficial shooting live subjects and at long range ensure that any breeze causing lens shake would be mitigated. But most importantly the sweet spot of the lens is likely to be in this aperture range too so you'd get better all round optical performance and sharper image in every respect. I wonder if by routinely using a minimum of f/10.0 you may lose out on image quality on occasion, when starting at such a small aperture isn't always the best option open to you. Just a thought. Still really enjoyed your video! 😊👍
@myatesphotography4 жыл бұрын
@@DGriffGallery No problem , since starting these KZbin videos I have notice a few things when watching the videos , I'm thinking of making a video on apertures and finding the sweet spot , also demonstrate dof whilst out in the field.

Mick, I found a W10 app called Sequator which might be useful for milky way shots. It maps star on star from single shots, thus eliminating trails and also can detect foreground to keep that steady. I'm just starting out with it but looks promising. Like you I'm struggling with light pollution so hopefully lockdown may not last much longer!

Hi - great start - will watch with interest - I started vlogging 20 Dec 2019 and now have 73 videos up - it's quite addictive. One bit of advice would be to get a microphone on your coat as sound levels a little quite.
