WOW you are talking about how you learned about autism, WOW what an amazing wow wow wow. Most people that claim they are autistic are just weird ass people who aren't brave enough to be social. I have known 2 people who claim to have autism, but have diagnosed themselves with it lol. You can't look at a brain and say, Oh there is autism. It is really just an excuse for the decline of sociality for selective internet sociality.

I'm with you on that. I'm high-functioning as well. The way the people in the restaurant were attacking the guy disturbed me. While I didn't necessarily agree with the one guy, the others telling him to shut his mouth were out of line.

I know this whole situation is fake but it’s a harsh reality of societal views on intellectual and developmental disabilities. Look at me for instance I am a freshman at Texas A&M studying to become a teacher in special education and I have several intellectual and developmental disabilities that don’t stop me from striving to better myself and changing people’s perspective on certain individuals who have disabilities. Just because we struggle with many things doesn’t mean we are incompetent.

May I say that as a girl who has an older sibling with autism (who has sometimes had autistic meltdowns in public) that it’s embarrassing and difficult enough when your family member is freaking out. And snide comments only exacerbate the situation. I understand that it can be annoying but what do you want us to do? Never go out together as a family or ever dare to have fun because an autistic persons existence may irritate you? Confine these types of people to a shut-in life? It’s hard enough as it is without some people’s utter lack of compassion!

There’s a big difference between an autistic meltdown and being a spoiled brat, I have autism myself and I lived during the 70s and 80s before they knew what autism was and I wasn’t even diagnosed until I was 33 years old and today you wouldn’t even know it if you met me unless I told you because I have worked so hard to learn what is acceptable and what isn’t! When someone has autism circuits in our brain are wired differently some are faulty and some just don’t work when it comes to behavior situations, so it sometimes takes us longer to figure something out that a normal person picks up on automatically!! For the circuits in my brain that don’t work you have to find an alternate route that does work!! For example I didn’t grasp the concept that you shouldn’t say search my bag to make sure I don’t have a bomb could be taken as a threat but when I was told that the phrase means the same as running into a building yelling fire when there’s no fire!! So when that fire route was used suddenly I understood the concept that shouldn’t have even needed an explanation!!! But that’s the way most of us are! I will be 50 this year and that example is something that I learned just a few years ago, and I am glad no one took me seriously because I didn’t know by saying that it could be taken as a threat and looking at it now I can’t even understand why I didn’t get the concept!!!

Autism speaks doesn’t speak for me. I’m proud of my Asperger’s and wouldn’t change it for anything. We don’t need to be cured, prevented or fixed. We have many talents and unique abilities to offer the world. Without us the world would be a boring cruel place.

Just when I felt like no one understands this video came up. I knew that I was on the Spectrum when I met this guy about 5 years ago. When he mentioned that he had Asperger’s something I would normally just roll my eyes to sarcastically I was curious enough to google . Over time I began to realize how it resonated with me and paralleled my life. Initially I was drawn to the guy because he would always stay to himself much like myself. Fast forward I’m now 50 years old and still haven’t been clinically diagnosed as of yet. My life has been a chaotic, tragic beautiful mess. I find myself on a Saturday morning on KZbin trying to figure out what is wrong with me on the verge of tears. I’m like a 50 year old teenager trying to be an adult. At times I just want to hide in a corner or deep in the forest indefinitely. When I mention I have Aspergers to anyone they look at me like no you don’t you’re just crazy. So I don’t say anything I just keep my crazy mouth close and suffer in silence like always have but I know the truth. Seeing this video was like God saying to me I see you and I love you. I can’t keep a job long enough to get insurance to get diagnosed or have the mind to even know where or what. Nonetheless I’m gonna continue my work learning to love myself whatever the case.

You're a terrible parent if you bring a child who constantly screams and yells to a restaurant who there are people that are trying to enjoy their meal, relax and have a good experience Be more considerate to those around you and eat at home

People on the autism spectrum have every human right to go out in public (like restaurants) like everyone else. You could learn something about empathy and compassion. Meanwhile, grow up.
