Chevoy

Chevoy was born in St Catherine, Jamaica and has always had a passion for music. As an early memory of when he was 6, he remembers receiving a standing ovation from the congregation at church during a solo rendition, and that feeling stayed with him to this day. He has since dreamt of emulating that reception to a larger audience.

Chevoy moved to the UK when he was 9 and gravitated to music, finding solace in songwriting as he adapted to the new environment.

As time passed, he became somewhat sheltered musically as he presumed that his distinct sounding voice might not be perceived as a ‘traditional R&B’ one. He then grew to appreciate the uniqueness during experimentation in the studio, creating new unheard sounds.

Musically, Chevoy is inspired by a variety of genres, particularly Gospel, Dancehall, R&B and the soundtracks to 80s & early 90s movies. To box him into one genre would be hard, however, he does consider himself to be an R&B artist at heart.
