Great video and fantastic topic to go more in depth. Analyzing some businesses real or theoretical and showing how they can implement principles you talked about, I think can be a great value for audience. 🚀

The internet should operate as its own unique discrete entity...with members elected to government from any participating country...and govern itself to have a unified set of rules and laws that apply to every digital being operating within its framework... You could operate like a game...instead of jail...bans from the net...and internet passports...and a single unique identity for every individual... It would solve an incredible amount of problems with the world today.... Politicians elected from each member country to govern the net....

If someone can benefit from my data, what's the harm in that (as far as it's not affecting me physically or financially)?
@yingying5933 жыл бұрын
it's totally fine if you don't feel creepy when an ad of a brand that you have mentioned with your friends a few minutes ago suddenly appear on your social media ;)

The harm is that it doesn't stop at just "helping". Corporations and businesses that collect your data make money off of your personal information, habits, locations and you may not even be aware of it. At that point, there is no more privacy, you might as well be living in a glasshouse. You have a right to your own privacy and to be able to show only what you want to show. I agree that data can be beneficial to give so that preferred brands and items can be recommended but who says that the same people who process that data arent storing that information for other companies to buy. And most importantly, if corporations already do this, couldn't they sell your data to the government? The problem is that even though you are aware of the data you do share consciously, you are unaware of the data you don't share consciously. It's like when someone hacks you and your information is stolen/sold you would get angry and scared about what data you lost but in this case, you are basically consenting to leaking your information but you don't know how much you've actually consented to from these corporations.

it does effect you financially sometimes, for example google chrome doesnt block third party cookies by default, and because of that chrome will use more battery.
@rohankishibe64332 жыл бұрын
@@sethknutson3592 Thing is, corporations will use your information to sell and market their product to you, meaning if you're not gullible and won't buy what you don't need, it doesn't really matter. Meanwhile, an individual will usually use your information to steal financial details, track you down to do physical harm, or any number of unpleasant things.

Kinda sad that your website has an unsecure connection when the entire purpose of this entity is about information security and privacy

This is why you need a VPN....
@Emeny3 жыл бұрын
That doesnt solve all the issues, it just changes your ip. The second you log in with your account or even just connect to it, companies may already know its you
@csenger10252 жыл бұрын
what you would need for alot of privacy is not just a vpn, but being logged out of your accounts, a privacy respecting browser like hardened firefox or brave browser, and linux operating system, and some more stuff
