My mother was liberated in Heerlen by US soldiers. She was 10 years old. I believe she once told me hearing soldiers sing: 'When the saints come marching in'. I can especially imagine black US soldiers singing this hopefull song. Are there any known stories that can validate this?

It is amazing that in that video devoted to Etty Hillesum, not even once the word God was mentioned. I can't think of the reason why. You cannot talk about Etty without talking about her search for God and eventually having found Him. She describes her journey to God and that actually is the essence of the book. She was a real mystic, deeply spiritual. There are many moving and deep insight she shares in the book. You can open it at random and there will be a passage where she talks about her relation with God. Come on, U.S. Consulate General, own it. This short film misinforms and distorts the truth about Etty Hillesum hiding the main characteristic of the woman.

What strikes me, is that in those days we called black people negros or in Dutch, negers. Nowadays, those words are considered racist. I don't know why.

I travel as a minor on my own, and I am a U.S. citizen. So when I come back from an international flight from México, they treat me like I'm smuggling drugs. These videos make these CBP officers look so friendly, don't get me wrong, some CBP officers are nice, but most of the time, just... rude. I wish I wasn't treated like a criminal. I dread the airport for that one reason. When I go to México, they don't treat me like that at customs, if anything, they are very friendly.

@@FunTimes580 Well I just think it is bullshit what the guy is saying. I went to the US last year and I had no problems with customs. The agent was nice and respectful. My dad has been to the US many times and sometimes the immigration agents were rude to him but he doesn’t judge a whole country based on their immigration procedures. What kind of man is scared of an immigration agent? I think that the original commenter didn’t get a visa and is salty about it.

Thank you very much for posting the 2021 Memorial Day Ceremony so that those of us far away are able watch and hear the wonderful gratitude and respect expressed to the families of the fallen, who are honored this day and in this place. My uncle, PFC Alfred A. Wang, rests among the fallen in Margraten. His family is grateful for the decades of care and remembrance he receives from the people of the Netherlands.

Thank you so much for this tribute to our fallen soldiers. Being Dutch born shortly after WW II, I deeply appreciate this tribute. I can't begin to tell you what it felt like for me to see and visit this cemetery when I visited Holland. My family is so grateful for all the Allies did in liberating Holland and for the food drops at that time.
