Hello I absolutely love this video and appreciate the time you took to post it so everyone can enjoy and appreciate dancing....I am Utah Paiute not living in Utah it's a line that comes from my mother's father's side .... doesn't give me a whole lot blood percentage wise and I have no one to else where I live that is Paiute ....in my heart I am 100 percent fully!! But is it wrong for me to be proud of that and totally identify myself as native American....I should mention I am not registered and I do not get benefits so no nothing like that is why I claim my little amount of native American heritage I just purely connect with it in my soul no matter what the blood quantum says but is that wrong of me?

Hello! My name is FraShaylyn kee, and I am 16 years old. When i was 4 years old, I had a best friend. She was a jingle dancer, and her mom was very close friends with my mom. When my childhood best friend taught me Jingle dance, I got into it real quick. My best friend didn't teach me or anything. I just got the hang of it, and i looked at her feet. Then, I showed my mom. My mom was impressed, and she told my best friens mom to see if she could make my jingle dress handmade. So that's when i got a customed dress made for me. So, I started jingle dancing. However, when i was barely starting, I was a tiny tots dancer. Tiny tots is a dance that 6 made for younger children below the age of 6. I started there, and then I made my way up to jingle dancing. I was 4 when i first did tiny tots. At the age of 6, I did jingle dancing. Unfortunately, i stopped doing it because I moved. I used to live in crownpoint, but I currently live in Albuquerque. Nkw that we have lived here for god knows when, I forgot about jingle dancing. Me and my mom would go powwow dancing every now and then. Now.. my older brother, grandma, grandpa, auntie, passed and I am so hurt. They were into jingle dancing but never got to do it because they were an elder. So now, i wanna do it to heal and to move on with their dream. I hope everyone also has a reason and purpose for powwow dancing. I hope everyone has an amazing day or night! Wherever you're coming from!

I learned how to powwow dance from your videos and I am still learning, but I am doing a lot better than I was when I first started. I love to learn about indigenous people. And I have a lot of respect for you and all the indigenous people out there.❤😊

Hello. Im Melody. I’m 11 years old and in 7th grade. My Grandma’s Mother survived the residential school, and so did my Grandpa’s Father. My Grandpa was out in a foster home with his Brother who we call Uncle Stretch because of how Skinny and Tall he was. 2 Years ago, My Grandpa’s Brother and His Dad Died. My Grandma’s Mother died before I was born. I am Woodlands Cree, My Great-Grandpa spoke Cree fluently. My Grandpa, not so much. I wish I learnt it, I only know Numbers and a few things. Today, November 16th, 2024, Is a Round Dance. My Grandma spent 6 days Sewing Shirts & Skirts. She tried doing what her Mother taught her. I have also been trying to learn how to Powwow dance Fancy Shawl. Thank you for this video, Even tho I am 4 years late, I Still want to thank you.

I haven't been to a wachipi for many, many years. I was married to two different Oglala-Mniconjou women, but years ago. My first wife, Tiny Butterfly, danced fancy shawl, and she sure lived up to her name, really looking like a kimimela when she danced (I'm from Moose Jaw, SK, she lived in Regina SK, but was originally from Thunder Butte, Cheyenne River Rez). I really enjoyed this video a lot, I've been a spectator often but never knew the intricacies like you've shown. Thank you very much for sharing your gift with us,

The scissors were a great investment. My mom always said sharp scissors aid in the precision. I love how you made your pattern. It is very well thought out for a novice like me. Well done. I have no idea how to sew more than a button or rip.

I was a jingle dancer when I was really young and I stopped being one ever since i moved into the city. I started doing jingle dancing on my own. I got myself into jingle dancing and I practiced on my own without letting anyone teaching me. I had a bsf who was a jingle dancer and She got me into jingle dancing so my mom asked her mom to make me a customed jingle dress and my mom signed me up to do jingle dancing. I was at pow wows and I was in parades too. It was amazing but i stopped bcz I moved into the city. I was fluent in navajo language but that changed. Now, I wanna become one again and that'll be my career once i grow up. I am a highschool student btw. So I'm learning navajo and I am learning how to do the jingle dance.
