On Tuesday I had surgery on my wrist, but not my hip at least. I have metal in my left wrist now so I feel like Luke Skywalker! 😂

Academy award winning radio show. I never knew that a radio show could win an Oscar, but Dragnet was certainly worthy of it.

Thanks for the heart. I don't know why Suspense did that. Several episodes were titled the same, but were different stories. I went through the entire list of episodes (I have the Martin Gram's book) and, interestingly, the final 65 episodes were originals. Maybe not all good, but at least different. Overall, a fine series 😊

Third time for this story, including Escape (Suspense's sister show). Second included John Dehner with Price, so that's my pick.😊

Like typical American propaganda movies, the plot is ridiculous. It probably seemed like that back when it was released, as well. They show communism as something inherently evil while showing the police and government as the good guys. Thieves and pickpockets are also deep-down-inside good, compared to the communists. The irony is that thieves and pickpockets are just poor people living in a capitalist society where they are forced to be thieves and pickpockets because there is no socialism. Therefore, they are on their own in their own community. This goes against the whole idea of having a community, forcing people to survive on their own. But that's the system the police and government are defending. The police are just there to protect the rich and make deals with thieves in order to combat the idea that rich people should share the wealth. This movie is about sharing information with the police. The street code in the 1930s gangster movies was don't be an informant. That informers were the lowest even in the gangster world. But this movie is all about informing. And how it's even a thief's duty to stop the threat of sharing. So, it really is the performances and the way it's filmed is what to watch it for. Thelma Ritter is good as always.

Thanks for tuning in and thanks for your comment. While I disagree with your take on capitalism vs communism vs socialism, it's thoughtfully presented so I'll leave it up (I typically ask to keep this a politics free zone). Have a great weekend!

I missed the live (I'm still stupidly sick), I'm so sorry, but I'm watching the replay. Nice intro. Did you say Thelma Ritter got an Oscar nomination for this? so awesome! She should have gotten one every time she was in a movie, but we'll take this nomination. www.imdb.com/name/nm0728812/awards/. I had to look it up. She was always a bridesmaid never a bride until after she died when she finally won an award. It's nuts! Great movie. Who picked it? @Life with Roscoe? Good choice.

I picked this one from a list from RottenTomatoes.com. Miraculously @Life with Roscoe had never seen it! Get well soon!.

Three versions of this tale, and all are fine. Didn't care for Ellen Drew, though. She sounded too shrill. I guess the second one (with Sarah Churchill) was best😊
