I just had a xc lesson & im not a fan of coffins either so my coach noticed im looking down at it & he also pointed out that ours heads are heavy, so make sure to look past the coffin. It really helped us. I couldn't tell if you were looking down at it.

He’s so classy. You should be stoked with that session! He just doubts himself and you sometimes and put the stop in, it shows he is a quick learner that he goes over fine the second time, id not over think it or worry to much about it and mileage will make him bolder, maybe some hunting in the winter 😅 you going to be a killer team next season 👌🏽 you’ve done a great job with him 💫
@bd24920

Well done for the ditch, you dealt with that so well! With regards to the stop at the straight-forward fence, horses can be very tricky to understand, they are all individuals and find different things scary for different reasons. I love the way you deal with it, you could easily chase him over it and force him to jump it but instead, you let him stop and have a look so that he can jump it confidently the next time. This is huge for building a great relationship where he can really trust you. I'm sure he will become more and more confident and start jumping anything you point him at because he knows you aren't going to force him or make him jump anything he's not capable of! Thank you for being such a great example of how to gently build up a horse's confidence! Also, your hands are great! Just being aware of the occasional slight pull in the mouth is amazing, keep doing what you're doing!

My station wagon (estate car) has done 670,000km. I enjoyed the schooling session. Edited to add a suggestion for coffins. A coffin is a fence, ditch, fence. Basically it's a triple combination with a ditch as the middle fence. I suggest first being comfortable with the individual fences and then as you feel more comfortable, slowly start stringing them together as a combination. It'll be easier to do this if the individual fences are as small as possible. Small fences will also help with the fear factor. Cheers from Australia 🌏🦘.
