Update: about 3 years ago I commented below. Very happy to say my injury cleared up in the months after reaching out to Sara and following her advice. She was incredibly kind to respond and I really, really appreciate her generosity and excellent guidance. As I said in my original comment, it was an extremely persistent and frustrating injury which just refused to heal. It required proper remedial action and targeted training. The exercises and protocol suggested by Sara were 100% effective, and in the years since I've had no relapses and could reintroduce all the activities I had to avoid while injured. A big thank you and I wish you all the very best.

I side plank might even be too much in the early stages because the side plank puts quite a bit of demand on the adductors which could continue to flare up the pubic symphisis. A regular plank with short holds in the beginning is going to be more beneficial than the side planks, at least safer.

If this is early in the diagnosis then that accordion exercise should probably be limited to an isometric hold rather than reps of the full motion. People who are dealing with this usually have instability issues and will have symptoms worsen with more motion. It's stabilizing strength that we need. I have this dysfunction and if I did what you recommended then it would be a major set back.

Agree with sentiments here. At early stages of OP also, and as an elderly person I have to dial down some of the stretch exercises. Though these look promising after building up with say, squeezing a beach ball between your legs. I have arthritis/sciatica problems, so my mistake has been not working on all the areas of inflamation so you do not get an imbalance causing even more pain. Final note, sometimes rest, ice & heat help quite a bit over time to assist in the slow healing process.

I have a nerve problem now with my Achilles resulting from mild sciatic pain that I've had in the lower leg for a couple weeks. I've been ignoring the mild sciatic pain which is coming from a hip impingement resulting from most likely osteoarthritis. The achilles pain can't be ignored very well. so what do I do? Stay off it as much as possible until it relaxes? Exercises might make it worse I don't know. Thanks

I know this video is old but I’m wondering if this ever heals on its own. After a fall I had a CT which showed this condition(along with other things). When I looked this up and saw symptoms I thought, oh that’s what that pain has been. I had this before the fall. I did gymnastics for a long time, had trauma later in life, and I have many back injuries. I still experience this discomfort when I move in certain positions in physical therapy, I have an ache in the pubic bone and sometimes the whole area and outer thighs get super flared and very painful. What should I do?

Back in 2008, during a track workout, I heard a pop in my hamstring. I was told to stretch and eventually was able to continue the workout and keep running that season. It wasn't until years later that I "ran" into the same issue. 🤭😄 Very much like the first time, I was sprinting and heard a pop in the same hamstring while running. I later noticed that I could run long distances without it being an issue. (I ran 8 miles yesterday). So it only seems to happen when sprinting. Do you have any idea what the issue might be?

Is it possible to get this injury during intense sex, particularly with the woman on top? The area over my pubic bone is very tender and it started soon after the aforementioned activity. This is a genuine question. 😂 If its unlikely to be this specific injury could that activity still have caused the inflammation by irritating the area?

Hi I’m an athlete and have been experiencing groin pain throughout the last two years of my career. I have spent several weeks doing adductor physical therapy and the pain eventually returns. My lower back (right side) and right gluteus are extremely tight. I feel pain in my lower back when I lie down… what can I do to heal my groin considering it’s not as much an adductor issue as it is a lower back (si joint or papas) problem? Thanks, any feedback is very much appreciated!

Not sure if I have Osteitis pubis or not. I know I have groin pain when raising my knee in the area close to the pubis area. And when I lie on my back with knees up in table top if I press on my left knee like I’m trying to force it down that hurts as well. I can’t seem to find pain or tenderness when I press hard all around there nor do I have any pain when I cough or you know like you would with a hernia. But what makes me thinking have the Osteitis pubis part is that sometimes at night sleeping on my side or often when driving a long time, I get this dull ache in that pubis area that will make me think it’s something worse with you know my “ plumbing”but it seems tied to the groin pain imo. IDK. Can the O P be a result from a groin muscle injury? Been nagging me for a year or more. Seems to get sorta better then goes bad again 😢. Never heard of the accordion exercise. Think I’ll try that. Subbed.

I saw an orthopedic & did some imaging to see any damage to pelvis region, including the symphysis pubis as well as checking for hip & lumbar arthritis. Surprising how much learning goes on when you really investigate. Plus, having a good orthopedic for consultation is beneficia to get to the source of the problem. Rest, ice & heat with easy-going stretches has helped me, and a good PT helps once you figured out the cause of pain. Orthopedic did not recommend PT at first because I had severe sciatica or arthritis. I did do lots of rest, ice & heat, which help. Though, you still have to move or you just going to rust out. It is a bit of a long process so patience is key.

How would you be able to differentiate between osteitis pubis and sports hernia?? I have this pain for 4 years and I don’t know is it osteitis pubis or sports hernia. It’s bilateral and I used to play soccer. My pain started on the left side first like a week after soccer game which started gradually then few days later the right side started gradually as well both mostly in the inguinal region. It was very bad in the beginning that flexing my hips was very painful I couldn’t put on and off my pants easily even walking was hard but over months it got better but always have this intermittent achiness. MRI was done didn’t show much and then ultrasound shows impending sports hernia so I am thinking about surgery but im really scared that it’s not sports hernia because I keep reading it’s usually unilateral but it is bilateral in my case. Coughing and sneezing can make it worse but it doesn’t for me. I have very very very tight adductors which I think they were tight before but got way way worse after that injury 4 years ago as I don’t really do much. One thing I remember I always after soccer games back then I always felt like a light mainly left sided groin/adductor pain which I always thought it’s a strain and then in a day or 2 goes away. I really don’t know, i would really appreciate your input
