Absolute nuts! I loved them from the time I first heard them on BBC as a young girl. They were brilliant.

In Match 1955 I was still _in utero._ The Goons came to US FM alternative radio when I was a teen. Paired with Paramount Marx Brothers movies then on UHF TV, that's a real comedy anarchy baptism. This was tempered by a neighbor who had all the Laurel & Hardy silents on 8mm film. (Imagine that, kids. No videotape, DVD or internet then.)

Why all the repeats, do they think we have the retention span of a gnat! No where near as good as Peter Coke and Marjorie Westbury, but a game attempt, so thank you.

The very first Goon show I ever listened to, in the listening room of the downtown Cleveland Public Library and it was painful-could not laugh out loud because of where I was but OMG, I thought it was brilliant. I went to the nearest record store and bought both it and one other and have been a fan ever since. It's all rather confusing, really.

The 'Holmes' productions of this time were 'appalling rubbish'.

I do tend to criticise some of the aspects of the writing BUT the sound effects are absolutely FIRST CLASS.

If Charlie packs clothes for Paul and Steve, does she mind him going through her drawers?

Nigel Bruce was a great Watson, I grew up in the 1960's so him and Rathbone were the ones I watched. I really liked that he was a kinda regular guy, very kind hearted

I'm sure one of the actors is John Le Mesurier. I recognise the voice.

I've heard a much better production of this. The repetition is very annoying (it's condescending to the listener) and sounds very amateurish. Some sound effects are awful. It's dreadful and I'm going to look for the productions with Peter Coke and Marjory Westbury.

Used to love listening to these on the radio when I was little. Eccles, Bluebottle and Neddy Seagoon always my faves. Loved Maj. Bloodnok too.
