Thank you! I'll be honest I haven't been impressed with youtube's algorithm when they keep nuggets like these to minimal views. You probably picked up on it, but there's also a layer I put in there of an 8-bit version of ABC. The part around the 1:55 mark is really something else. If you have any request for a mashup, let me know!

What I might be most proud of about this mix is that I was able to overlap some of Mikey's guitar solo part on top of Polyphia

Thanks for taking the time to listen. It works well enough that as it stands today the video has 9 likes/ 1 dislike. Not sure you even made it past the 2 min mark but the part around 2:30 is one of my favorites. Yes, it can throw someone off when they hear Dave and Incubus together. I'm guessing you'd like my other Dave/ Incubus mashup better kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIimoGx3fteaqs0

Thx for giving it a listen and taking the time to let me know what you thought, but I disagree. This actually wasn't my first Saucy Southern Girl I had up. The first one I kept the guitar part from Saucy in, but then I decided to revise it with piano after I got feedback that it sounded like AOL dial up sounds behind Brandon's voice. So I considered that and tried the piano and found it worked quite well (although not really like Incubus to do it). Otherwise, I can only guess that you might be thrown off by the bass tone, and the fast playing style at times of the bass and drums. I do admit, however, this is not one of my favorite mashups I've put together.

Thank you! It took me about three days to put together. I hope Dave hears one of these (this or one of the Polyphia tracks) and him or someone on his team reaches out to me and I can have some sort of meet and greet with him.

Something like that! I can say, he's got (had) one of the best voices in rock, especially pre 2010. There's something about playing show after show after show after... that makes a man's voice quite pleasurable to listen to

I love this. The only thing I'd change is letting the sax solo play by itself. Sort of an homage to Roi. Fantastic use of the Benaroya recordings toward the end

Thanks! There was only so much sax in the original recording I had to work with, so I decided to "stretch" it out (some stops here and there; phrasing?). Looking at your comment again, you may have meant let it play without vocals over it?

@@the90schildmashups92 "you may have meant let it play without vocals over it?" Yes exactly :) I think less vocals here would really bring out the emotion you get from the transition at around 2:51 To me that's the most emotionally provocative aspect to your work here, when Dave vocally riffs off the acoustical guitar. I literally felt the old chills of #41 again for the first time in years. At around 0:38 is another fantastic blending. It almost has a "little thing" or "an another thing" feel to it. For reference for perhaps another future mix: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmjGoZKppKh5p7s

@@syncopatednotes "I literally felt the old chills of #41 again for the first time in years" Cool! To be honest, I may have always skipped past "Little Thing" whenever I saw it in a setlist, but I listened to it and it definitely is more of an outlier in his catalog, but I'll remember it now. As it stands now, my two Polyphia/ Dave interpretations (on Grey Street and #41) are quite underrated and can/ will eventually get the attention of Dave or Tim. The instrumentals just work too well (you at least get it), so when I look at the analytics (at least for this one) it makes me think they're not that into Dave currently or people's attention spans have been attacked and diminished.

Nice to hear feedback on this, thanks! Now, if only we can get Tim Reynolds to learn this and play it with Dave. He could simply punch out some simple chords behind Tim (that are found in Playing God), but the guitar part is busy enough as it is. I can't remember him shelving one of his original guitar parts for something else in a live setting, but I'm sure the fans would really appreciate fresh takes.

Really cool how the ukeleles blend in with the lyrics and the climatic feel that's lacking in the original Crash recording when the ukeleles dim out at 3:05 while Brendan comes back in with the riff. And now we know what it would sound like if Dave and Brendan sang together!
