Yep, my Aunt and Uncle lived in Indy(Zionsville) back then, and I remember going to Lafayette Square often when we would visit them from Fort Wayne. Packed w/stores! Indy Union Station was another sad story.

East HYOOSTON (as in Houston, Texas)??? Are you FUCKING kidding me???!!! Growing up in NYC, I learned that Houston Street was pronounced HOWSTON as in "How do you do" and not HUGHSTON as in Hugh Grant!!! Didn't this journalist and his channel do their homework???!!! AAAGH!!! 😩

This is an evil and horrifying crime!!! It doesn't get any more disgusting, abhorrent, and heinous than this!!! This is even worse than the nasty crimes you see on today's cop shows (including Law and Order SVU).

It’s correctly spelled in the title but you keep calling it Silver Springs. There’s no S at the end.

With tv commercials like that, no wonder they went under. That’s one of the worst commercials I have ever heard in my entire life.

Let's be honest. There is a sad long history of crime and even multiple homicides over the last 20 years at and very near this historic Lafayette Square Mall location of my youth. This persistent criminal danger is the final dagger of death to shopping activity- to Washington, Lafayette, Circle Center and Castleton Malls.

The AMC Theater on the top level was a major draw for City Place. It was then the largest AMC theatre in the DMV.

This makes me so sad. I’ll never understand vandalism. Why?! 🤯 As a Gen X Canadian who spent a lot of winter days in the mall as a youth, it just reminds me of how times have drastically changed. I still go to my local mall sometimes just for the nostalgia of it all. While it’s not dead, it’s certainly not busy like it used to be. 😢

This mall right here was the shit!! EVERYONE KNEW ABOUT IT! I'm talking Chicago..Gary.. Louisville.. Cincinnati.. New Orleans.. Florida.. and beyond

Not surprised at all by the failure of this mall. As they say, location, location, location. We used to live in New Kensington and would barely have friends and family drive from Pittsburgh to visit. They made it seem like driving 25 minutes to visit us was too far. Monroeville and Ross Park are on heavily populated areas compared to Pittsburgh Mills.

They need to revive that mall tucked away in Georgetown. It had a nice vintage charm to it
@playlistiphone8743Сағат бұрын
Truth is, even though it’s an area with lots of foot traffic, for some reason, it just didn’t attract shoppers. And please don’t give me the “no metro in Georgetown” excuse.

One of the prettiest dead malls ever. IMO it looks better than some of the mills malls now. I dislike the white-washing that Simon does to their properties.

Why are malls dying in the US? Here in Europe, shopping malls are doing well, busy and full of life.

Funny how this feed showed up. I bet a lot of people don't know, but that spot where the building is was Hecht's department store; bought out by Macy's. The sky walk and whole area is totally designed. Where the Red Lobster is, if it's still there, that was an shopping strip with outside parking lot that had a Dart Drug store, etc. I live in NE DC, close to downtown, but went to schools in NW DC, Brightwood Elementary off 13th and Military road, Paul Jr. High off Missouri Ave NW and Coolidge Sr Hight school just flew blocks south of Takoma Park metro station. I gradated High school in 1985 and some years latter couldn't believe the transformation. Lot's of Hispanics/Latinos and African's, Ethiopians especially, up and in that part of Maryland and beyond. Only went to that mall once back in 2016 to go to Burlington. My go to movie theatre if Regal Theater across the street which is really nice. 🙂

As a true crime junkie I'm surprised I haven't heard of this yet. I grew up in Grand Rapids in the 90s and I still live there, growing up I heard rumors and jokes about "division street". I just remember there being an awesome record store and Punk venue there.

One of my favorite spots in the DMV although the crime has gotten out of hand in recent years, the place is awesome with festivals, movie theater (classic AFI and contemporary Regal), concert venue, and a plethora of shopping and restaurants.
