Thanks for the coverage Dan. I have the 2021 race t-shirt in my collection. Also the turn around point on the run course is about the half marathon turn around point if i run all the way from my house. Painful memories...

Some cool bikes. I just sold my gravel bike I wanted some thing that could do both gravel but really excell at endurance. I found a Bilenky custom from the builder. Just bought it for $3000 usd I might have to spend a couple hundered with him to upgrade the crankset to what I want. I would say go with a custom steel bike. He changed the cassette out for me, crankset to 165 mm arms like I want , and stem to get my fit and gave me a frame builders custom fit to size. I can’t wait to get it in a couple of weeks. Super lucky to find this one that a buyer backed out on and John O will be happy it’s got Campy centaur on it so I will get to experience some of that Italian luxury 😂

could we have a video of affordable bikes that are actually affordable for normal-er people- like £400- £1000, 1700 is not affordable for many people. bit out of touch this vid like. usually a fan
@TriathlonDan2 күн бұрын
@@dannyr6040 hey Danny, thanks for that - I did really toy with the use of ‘affordable’ in the title, the content of the video isn’t scripted at all. I absolutely understand that the term is subjective and lots of people won’t be able to drop that sort of money on a bike. Webuycycle only sell bikes with a resale value of over £1000, so this was essentially a selection of the cheapest bikes that they had in stock. I’d love to cover more ‘proper’ entry level bikes, I just don’t have one / have access to any at present. On reflection maybe ‘entry level’ would have been a better title, but even that’s open to interpretation as I wouldn’t say di2 is entry level for example. Hope you understand it’s ’just a KZbin title and video’ and I’m not just flexing sworks etc 🤣👍
@dannyr60402 күн бұрын
@@TriathlonDan i totally get its just a title etc and i really wasn't making the comment to sound like a dick or anything. just feel that there could be people put off by 'entry" level bikes being 1700 quid- when this is actually not the case. i have a cube got it for 400 quid off eBay and its more than capable, and has done, ironman, sprints and long rides. i suppose we all have to sell out to get paid and its your work. just hope people don't take it as gospel
@TriathlonDan2 күн бұрын
@@dannyr6040 no you’re being totally fair and I get your point, I just think it’s still a fair way to title the video. In the actual video introduction I describe it in more detail as ‘towards the lower end of the market, lower price point’. That’s really cool, I had a similar bike in the past too. I’d just say that £400 to some people isn’t affordable either, so where do you draw the line 🤷♂️. For clarity Webuycycle have never paid me and I’m not on commission or anything (I actually declined it so that I can always share my honest thoughts etc) I was collecting my bike that they’d bled the brakes up on for me as I couldn’t get them sorted, so I just did a few videos while I was there. They’re good people based locally to me and I like supporting good people where I can, especially if it helps me make content. For additional transparency if this video does 1-2k views it will make £5-7 in total revenue, which I then have to pay tax on, this isn’t a moneymaking scheme 👍

A 3T or the Grizl - what would you buy if the price was the same?
@TriathlonDan4 күн бұрын
Great question. Interestingly the XL / 58 is almost exactly the same geo as my L Grizl, but the 56 3T I rode on this video is 25mm lower on the front, hence why it felt more racey. I'd probably still go for the Canyon as I'm a bit of a fanboy and the fork mounts have come in handy for a trip I have coming up soon :)
@Morten_Nielsen19794 күн бұрын
@@TriathlonDan But the Grizl can not take mtb tyres can it? It lacks a little bit tyre clearance I think. There are many good mtb tyres. Continental Race King for example. Extra comfort. Canyon is offering a Grizl with an electric SRAM group for 2340 euro on offer. With that gear group I can put a gear changer on my aerobar. I live in extreme mountains, and I have started my mission of doing every loop route out there. There are about a 100. It's in the Cantabrian mountains in Spain. Now I have finished the first and shortest loop. I had to try 4 times just to get through the shortest loop route 😂. 60 km. The longest is 170 km!
@TriathlonDan4 күн бұрын
@@Morten_Nielsen1979 wow that sounds awesome! I’ve just put 2.1inch Schwalbe Thunder Burt’s on and there’s plenty of clearance. A 2.2 would fit on the front for sure but a 2.1 on the rear is probably the limit
@Morten_Nielsen19794 күн бұрын
@@TriathlonDan That's a good pair of tyres. Same weight as the Continental slicks. I had not heard of them before. The 3T will probably always cost at least a 1000 euro more than the Grizl. I think I have narrowed my choice down to these two. Now I am riding a mtb with 40 mm slicks and aerobar. I am also considering the Radon Jealous 9.0 hardtail for 2200 euro. Lower weight that the Grizl and with a suspension fork.
