I love Magic Johnson. He's just a great guy and dynamic ball player. It's awesome that they were finally able to see eye to eye that there were similarities within themselves that allowed them to be friends for life. A beautiful thing. Thanks for this inspiring video Philly God bless in all you do. 🙏

Good old Chuck Barkley there was having a hard time answering that question cause he knows ....he's not better than Bird! LOL. I don't understand why they always gotta bring Birds race to it. He wasn't just the Baddest White boy ever in the league at that time ....he was 1 of the Baddest Basketball Players Period....during that time!!!

Might be starting some 💩 here... but who really gives a duck... It's just a comment thread. But, I'm glad to see yet another AA man provide equal respect & praise when speaking on the GREAT... #33🍀... Mr. Larry Bird. I wouldn't say your opinion of the legend in any way falls into the realms of the minority from the overall opinion of the said Great within the AA community... But, w/in this specific community is where I'm confronted by the small percentage of persons of whom still doubt this man's obvious abilities... Claiming that his 🏀 skill "Was NO BETTER than any other of the NBA's Good AA Players... & that if he weren't Americas Great White Hope @ that time," that he would have ONLY gone down into the record books as being just that. I'm happy your shared video upload & shared commentary sided with the overall majority & not of this recent years "minority status quo"... Otherwise.

As Wilkens has said, and others have too, "Larry was a different cat! A breed apart!" One of the things that I liked about Larry, and is what attracted me to him was that he was authentic! No ego driven bravado. He was definitely arrogant,, but could back it up! He was all basketball! "They pay me to win games, not set records." Accolades will follow automatically, but the focus is on winning! Magic was exactly the same mind set! How can you not appreciate that competitive spirit? In his Hall of Fame induction speech, Magic Johnson said of Larry Bird; "Larry, you're what a basketball player should be!" and the entire audience stood and applauded.

I had a hard time understanding the audio, except for your voice, which is very pleasing. I also saw you had cc's enabled, but there weren't any. I'm 64, so it's my hearing loss, but I really think, you should narrate your own videos, and without the TV sound bites (which are often pretty bad acoustically). These clips clearly show the great athleticism of today's players. However, to the NBA's detriment, they are selling individuals, not great teams, like the 80's and 90's Lakers, Knicks, Bulls, and Cetics and Pistons. In addition, the rampant traveling and palming without being called by refs, is making the game unwatchable. The teams I mentioned, with Wilt, Bird and McCale and Maxwell, and the Showtime Lakers were incredible fast-break teams. It was all-out, but traveling wasn't tolerated, and palming the ball in half-court while waiting to set up your own 3-point shot is bad basketball own so many levels. I love that your celebrating the old legends. Wilt had between a 48' to 54' inch vertical jump, could grab a quarter of the TOP of the backboard, was bench pressing 600 lbs,, and did things like move 6'11", 260 lb. Bob Lanier out of his way like this huge man in 16" shows for the Pistons was easiest to just pick him up and move him out of Wilt's way. And the athleticism of Elgin Baylor, Connie Hawkins, Jerry West and Oscar Robertson and Magic has never been in doubt, regardless of era. Most players don't play smart basketball now, because they grow up wanting to be Seth Curry. When Magic and Isiah were kids, they wanted to be like Pistol Pete Maravich, and succeeded in developing a great team leadership game while developing mad skills in passing and ball-handling, as Bird did. Good fortune and blessings to you.

Good to see a Philly guy sharing old school stories with the young kids who think basketball is all three pointers, no defense, no contact, 3-4 step traveling and blatant carries allowed. Used to run at 10th & Lombard... back when you had to pick the glass from crushed crack vials outta your hands after games (way before the hood got gentrified and the court made pretty), Clark and others in West Philly, and Susquehanna. BTW no doubt the true goat is Wilt Chamberlain.

Magic would fit in ,McHale would become #1 option and probably average 30 pts, Bird would fit in too , big misconception that he was slow, he was quick when he .needed to be quick, and he would be his same revolutionary forward and the lakers keep Norm Nixon ,Kareem would be getting fed the ball from Bird perfectly ,bounce passes to worthy on the break ,it would be nearly identical in game play and i think eventually both players would win their cities over, Bird proba bly picks up another ring, not because hes better but because his team would stay healthier, i think Riley and Jones are both go with the flow coaches that with both those players they know what they got, coaches on the floor so they dont hinder their game, a couple of other things, with Bird ,maybe the lakers dont draft worthy and the celtics certainly dont pick up Dennis Johnson, so you have to think what two enormous pairs of shoes replace those H.O.F.ers , alot of options, i think the lakers probably still take worthy ,and with bird it does nt really matter, hes fluid he go from the 2 to the 4 ,but the celtics arent looking for a point with magic ,so who knows? Red most definitely would be looking for the biggest available name at more than likely a forward , so about the same ,the two were so comparable in their philosophy of the game that theyre still dominating the 80s

The argument here is laughable. Who was the top scorer on the dream team? Barkley. To tell Charles you got to win a championship first when Barkley played on the Sixers and Bird played for the Celtics. HUGE DIFFERENCE. That argument is ridiculous, it’s as if basketball isn’t a team sport.
