How many times have we heard that over the last 3 years? Don't hold your breath. Inventories are projected to remain tight well into 2025, even in Florida.

But if the housing market is above their budget, what do you expect them to do? If they don’t have enough money to put a down payment.

I downsized to a new starter home in 202 from a large home with a pool, hit the low market right as COVID locked down and rates dropped, got a 2.875 mortgage rate ZERO POINTS. I'm the one you guys refer to the "golden handcuffs!" I'm not ever selling and if I do my house is updated, new, energy efficient, will have no trouble getting it sold. Market is all timing!!!!!

It is not Renters VS Owners, it is People Who Own Assests VS those that dont There is a lot of crossover but there's no reason a renter couldn't invest in the stock market to make up for it, but 99% of people dont. Also home owners tend to be married at a higher rate, while renters are single. Single people always do worse off financially. Not all renters are dumb, but all dumb people are renters, to put it shortly. Renting is not the cause

If you bring in 10 million people they have to live somewhere basic math, and if there in is not 10 million extra places to live empty and ready to go it is going to cause a few problems from price pressure to even if they are given away there is not enough for everyone in need.

@scottbrown7415Ай бұрын
Local authorities, aka cities and municipalities, have the control of zoning laws they could make areas for affordable housing happen. But they wont because zoning is about maximizing taxable value of properties. Zoning laws are why you just dont ever see small starter type homes being built anymore. Municipalities DONT WANT sub 1,200 square foot homes in their areas.

@jake______Ай бұрын
that's because the economy is all-encompassing and nebulous it means different things to different people, generations, classes, and political groups
@roberthegwood3528Ай бұрын
Let's not kid ourselves, it means readily available and affordable. That's all.
@iainburgess8577Ай бұрын
Yes, but nuance is important. We all have very different concerns where the economy is concerned. For instance, "the economy" is both the economy, as it currently functions & its balance of function, and any concern or discussion of failure or improvement. The colloquial interpretation assumes the economy As it currently is. Whatever poll you are referencing has interpreted & limited responses into that limitation of interpretation, whether the response was wanting economic Reform or Not. And You are presenting that poll as positively as you can. So this is very much a strawman argument.

Why is housing an issue? Maybe blackwater buying a ton of single family homes arbitrarily raising home prices. The cost of goods isn't inflation alone when you see companies with record profits.
@christianseiders6197Ай бұрын
Housing is an issue because for a large number of average people, there’s a good chance they will never be able to afford a home in the current market. For me, it’s possible but unlikely to happen anytime soon, and even if I did have the income for it, I would have to move to a different state because it’s not feasible where I currently live
@sarahabraham368Ай бұрын
Absolutely and I read just recently that it's not just Black Rock. There are a few different equity firms buying up property also. All the usual suspects.😊
@Gregarious3Ай бұрын
Significant immigration means more competition for the limited resources of housing where people actually want to live.
@mikeengland2633Ай бұрын
@@Gregarious3 it's not immigrants taking the homes. Competition drives down the price lol at the monopolize system.

that was me at the start of looking for stuff , then after i was prepared to pay for certain things i then looked at how much I'd be paying for i terest over the span of my leases, I don't want to buy anything big anymore. House will cost 250k and id be up to 500k because of interest on a city house with visible wear and only 3 bedrooms and barely any yard. Stuff is outrageous.
