Se ha puesto de moda el camino de Napoleón cuando lo lógico y más corto y más seguro es cruzar la frontera por Valcarlos, pero en fin…
@BensOutdoorExperience2 ай бұрын
Yes, I went the way through Valcarlos because The Napoleon Way was closed when I walked. I stopped for the night at a very nice local arlbergue. I like to take it easy the first couple of days to avoid any wear and tear. Happy trails!
@eduardomg40662 ай бұрын
@@BensOutdoorExperience You were lucky. Valcarlos is a mythical place for many reasons. Even the shape of the border is interesting because it makes the navarrese village a Spanish enclave in France. Thanks but I don’t trail, I live here, on the Camino. Best regards.

Thank you! I usually hike in the autumn/winter, I think this was in September/October. After Porto I followed the coast, can recommend it. As it was during Covid I brought my tent. The Portuguese people I met were very friendly and speak better English than the Spanish IMHO. Besides I found that the price level of food etc is lower in Portugal. Wish you a great experience! /Ben

Hi Ben. How are you doing? I watched your videos a few years back. I've decided to watch your Portuguese route again. So on your playlist Camino Portuguese 2020. To answer your Viking question....Yes they did raid Portugal and Spain, there are records of this assault coming down from Galicia to Porta and to Lisbon around 800 CE. I am aiming to walk the Camino from Portugal to Spain this year so I make it my business to know the Viking connections. I visited Egypt twice in the last few years and wondered about Viking connections there as well. Sure enough there are records of Vikings in Alexandria. They really did explore! PS Watching your videos for tips as I plan to camp along the way as well.

Hi! It was def cooler, don’t remember being sweaty at all. Had some chilly mornings but for me it was ok. I’m a thruhiker so just brought my UL equipment including tent, sleeping bag and stove. Some days I didn’t want to stay in the hostels bc of toxic peeps and/or the distance was too short for me. My backpack weighed in on roughly 6 kg not including water and food which you buy along the way. 👍

Thanks for the videos, Ben. I've just started planning my journey. I was considering starting in Lisbon, but it seems the Camino gets nicer from Coimbra on. Ben, thanks for the video! I am planning to do Sodra Kungsleden on skis this winter (February/March), maybe even to Storlien. I`ve got a few questions, have you mostly followed the snowmobile trail (the easterly route) or summer trail? Was is even tracked in January or you were mostly the first one coming trough?Haven`t you considered pulkas except from backpack, how heavy it was at the start? How can I pay to get the keys to the cabins? greetings from Gdansk, Poland.
@BensOutdoorExperience3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I followed the winter trails (red crosses). In some areas snow mobiles are allowed on the same trail. In deep snow the summer blazing will disappear. Depending on the weather the trails can be tracked (if you’re lucky) or not. I can travel more swiftly with backpack, and buy food along the way. The Swedish huts have an emergency room open so no need for keys. If hiking in Norway you’ll need a key. My backpack weights in around 8 kg in winter ex food, fuel and water. Best wishes, Ben
