You ask what genre Sleepytime Gorilla Museum is. Well, in the broadest sense, they are experimental. "Experimental" is an umbrella category pertaining to any music that rejects the conventional structures and parameters typically expected of their given genre. SGM combines elements of folk, classical, and progressive metal, and possibly others. I like SGM and other "weird" music, but I can certainly understand why some people would not like them. Then again, musical preference is inherently subjective, and thus, your reaction is neither correct nor incorrect. Your facial expression and honest review was amusing though. The discordant instrumental sounds and ostensible syncopation thru out can be confusing to one's auditory faculties, but I think that's what makes them great! I first discovered SGM in 2010, after going thru an internet rabbit hole of sorts, and I was thoroughly impressed by this song and album "Of Natural History" (2004). There is something simultaneously base yet exalted about their sound. I agree with another commenter on here who said one needs to have a high IQ to appreciate SGM. Their lyrics are intellectual and thought-provoking.

Not throwing shade at REN at all but NF is a much bigger artist than him and you realize. Nate sells out stadiums, has over 30 (might be 40 now) gold/platinum records. Multiple #1 albums. Radio plays, songs on tv shows, video games, sporting promo (most recently NBA) He is in the top 1% of most listened to artist on Spotify with over 10 billion streams. Might be 11b now. But having said all that he should be an even bigger name and he could be if he played the game like everyone else. But he has said in interviews he doesn’t care about all that. He puts his music out, tours, and then disappears until his next project. REN has stated NF is a big influence of his (I was told by a friend who said he heard that from ren in an interview. So if that’s not true someone let me know) Appreciate the reaction !!! Nate is my GOAT

It’s the first song on a new album. That’s probably the reason for the build up. He’s always making movie videos. Honestly I didn’t care for the song when I first saw/heard it but it’s grown on me

The newest Album Starfire is mixing it up a decent amount because it is over an hour long which could get exhausting even for fans of their style I'd try Teardrop Sunshine on there which still feels darko but isn't as heavy Also honorable mention Sora from the same album is something like Hyperpop and they're not even using Tom's vocals in it, it's all their feature Marcus Bridge who's from another deathcore or adjacent band. Not that Tom Barber couldn't sing either, he's got some sexy cleans in Bunny Suit as well (also on Starfire) If you want to do a full reaction to the album (maybe record it in pieces if it gets too much) that'd also be cool, personally mt album of the decade, the only two songs (out of 17) that aren't in my playlist is because one is a 6 second filler and the other feels more like an artistic choice or a meme than an actual song Also if you want to try something non-darko I'd love to see what you think of In Gloom - Thirsting Blade Dark Excalibur Mega-Genesis, the song feels like it doesn't take itself seriously one bit but it goes so hard at the same time I love it

That 20kmh instrumental is so so so good and that breakdown kills. Speed is obviously about E-scooter and they are singing about it, and even tho it's German you catch few words and you can sing them

The thing about J cole is the fact that he makes music everyone can relate to. I could go on and on about songs to listen to, so I’ll give you a couple from multiple albums 2014 Forest Hills Drive - arguably his best album - check out noo role modelz. A beautiful song. Also check out Love Yourz for a masterpiece. I would argue that any song on their is solid tho. On the KOD album ( my favorite ) I personally really like Kevin’s heart. This album tells a story about addiction but is a little more upbeat 4 your eyez only - aw man. Hard decisions but immortal, I personally like ville mentality, deja vu, and neighbors of course. Make sure you watch the music video for neighbors lmao That’s just a decent start, but this shit goes deep. Definitely check him out bro, he’s amazing.

I don't have the time to translate the lyrics rn.
