And 0 clips - especially with perhaps contrast between Bogart, Davis other actors that portrayed Quegg? Fred McMurray from 1954 version set standard for his role, too.

If it was really so bad that the movie won't even be in theaters, I think it would at least be nice to put the movie on some streaming platforms, because otherwise it's counterproductive because the movie is shot, but no one has seen it in the final, except of those who were at the festival & in a little while it will be a year and the film is still nowhere.

I loved it. I am one of those women who loves what I call "Male soap operas.""" " Strikeback, The Unit, S.W.A.T, Seal Team, JAG, etc. What you thought was slow was laying the groundwork so you understood everyone's agenda and the stakeholders. I love the stockbroker husband who has the ear, both political players and the money players. I love it when he interacts with Nicole Kidman character and they speak in a well-known code. You just know that they each came from wealthy families. I also love that there are these two high-ranking women who have worked their way through the ranks. I think it's a different perspective. We have mainly seen men go to war. They think of their wives and children and what they're fighting for. They take it for granted that their wives are just going to keep everything together on the domestic front. And now it's women engaged in war. With one of them experiencing drama in her home life. I think it's reasonable that the teenager would resent her long absences and would act out. A husband that still loves her, but as adults, they have given each other permission to get their emotional and sexual needs from other people during the absences. I just think they had to this kind of groundwork, so the second half would take off with a bang. And I love that Cowboy. For one thing, you are supposed to wear cologne out in the field. It is like lighting a cigarette at night. Then Zoe's character says he's such an asshole and he replies, and good-looking too. And she says that makes it worse. I was very satisfied with the whole show. Was it perfect? No. But I personally it was close 4.0 - 4.5/5.

Yep. Knox was flat overall. Side note. I kinda hoped he was gonna kill his weekend girlfriend for her part in the attempted robbery of Knox. And the too much angry Chinese female in charge was more crowbarred wokeism that was more than a distraction for me. Apparently we can't have subordinate women in movies anymore. Anyways. There could have been more tension with Pacino's character Crane being different. All we get is Crane a couple times saying: You sure you trust me, I'm a thief? But I had little to no doubt that Crane was going to help Knox. The investigation could have brought tension to the story if Crane was under pressure from police as well

It was ok for me. I definitely agree with some of the acting. The songs to me didn’t feel that memorable but, hey we all view movies differently.
@FeelinFilmOriginal11 ай бұрын
Yeah, especially when it comes to musicals and the songs - they really gotta connect with someone for them to have a good experience. I've been binging the Broadway soundtrack all week now and found they left out a few in the movie (good decision) but that most of the ones recreated in the film are bangers that I really enjoy singing along to.

captain Queeg was a "micro-manager" that didn't like delegating authority to junior officers - he gave bad & wrong orders during a severe storm - which was the cause of the mutiny !! ... Nonpareil Direction by George Clooney, even the Extras were a treat to watch. Also full marks to Script-Writer, Mark L Smith for showing things as they really were in Depression Ridden 1936. The Cinematography by Martin Ruhr is simply awesome, watch for the high ( overhead ) camera shots of the Sculling ( Rowing ) Races, Panorama, Colour, and Adrenalin all in one. Top acting by all of the cast, a great team effort, with Joel Edgerton as The Coach, Al Ulbrickson, and Callum Turner as Joe Rantz delivering on all counts, but keep an eye out for Luke Slattery as the inspiring Coxswain, Bobby Loch, and Peter Guinness as the wily and wise Boat Builder, George Pocock. Take the cast into your hearts and Row with the legendary “ Eight “ and the equally legendary Coxswain, Coach, and Boat-Builder, but only the really big screen can do justice to this remarkable and memorable Sporting Film, so ignore The Critics and their Ratings, lift like the legendary “ Eight “ did and get to The Cinema, if at all possible.

I kinda liked the dynamic of the family but as a horror this was very poor. I did not find it scary. The attempts to make the pool scary failed miserably and the dialogue became so dreadful it was literally laughable. A couple cool set ups and shots but overall this one didn’t work for me. Great review 👍

I'm with ya. The set up had some promise. I really think they needed to lean more into his drive to get back on the field as an all-consuming problem. Felt like they were too safe in trying to tread the line between good family Dad and sad depressed man with a life-changing injury.

@@RossComptonthe19th Low-key snark, Ross. Nice one. There’s always some mediocrity the critics fall for. SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, MANCHESTER BY THE SEA, PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE, AMERICAN BEAUTY, THE IRISHMAN, PAST LIVES. Nothing new under the sun.

The great thing about movies is that we all connect in different ways to different things. It's a very meaningful film for me. I'm sure you probably have films that've touched you that didn't do anything for me. And that's totally okay. :)

@@FeelinFilmOriginal A very fair response, and I get where you’re coming from. I really do. Look, my youngest child finds Taylor Swift’s music very meaningful TO HER, and she loves it. But if pressed, she’d acknowledge Taylor Swift is vastly inferior to the Beatles or Bach or The Beach Boys. PAST LIVES is poorly written and poorly acted. There is zero chemistry between the main character and her husband. But I fully understand why this film is meaningful to a lot of folks. It’s very human to wonder about paths not taken. (Heck that’s one of the reasons I watched the film in the first place.) But simply because a film is meaningful to an individual doesn’t necessarily make it good. You’re in good company however. Mark Kermode said Past Lives was the best film of the year. Meanwhile Josh Matthews (who I find extremely reliable) shrugged and said it was merely “basic.” One last thing: Many films have explored unconsummated love with far more skill and artistry than Past Lives. IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE is the first that comes to mind. Compare the quality between it and Past Lives and maybe you’ll see where I’m coming from. Anyway, all the best to you.
