If you knew how corrupt these military leaders who had all come to power through the barrel of the gun had become, & how the whole nation had degenerated into chaos and abject poverty, while these corrupt generals were busy displaying their opulence, you wouldn't have said that. Like you, I would've preferred that no human blood was shed at all, but that's not what happens during revolutions. Something drastic needed to happen to awaken the nation about the dangerous direction she was headed, a direction where a few selfish well educated civilians, together with their corrupt military counterparts highjacked the reins just to aggrandize themselves. While a few govt functionaries may have been found to be corrupt under Rawlings, there's one undeniable fact that even his most ardent enemies will attest to, and it's the fact that he was not a corrupt leader. Rawlings didn't amass any wealth. There's no evidence of that anywhere you can show us besides the usual conjectures. Was he perfect? Absolutely not. Neither are you, and neither am I.
