The reason I had to keep revving the engine was to set the idle speed screw, which you see me do, after using the choke.

Why Hello, Sir Haydn!
@laaity3 жыл бұрын
Hello Im building a 3 1/4 inch black 5 (I know its much bigger than 16mm ) But can you give me some advice for the build of my locomotive
@allanblackesq3 жыл бұрын
Have a look at these peoples web page www.ajreeves.com/3-12-locomotives.html they cater for the sizes you mention and they will most likely have castings that are close to what you need and perhaps they will also know someone who can machine them for you. Hope this helps.

Well, 16mm is just shy of HO gauge, I think. The engine, though, looks big enough to be OO-scale (1:76), running on narrow-gauge track.
@allanblackesq3 жыл бұрын
HO scale is 3.5mm to the foot, OO is 4mm to the foot, 16mm scale is 4 times larger than OO. 16mm scale is 1:19 ratio, much larger. The engine is running on 32mm gauge track which is the same gauge as O gauge/7mm to the foot/1:43.5 ratio.
@williamsquires30703 жыл бұрын
@@allanblackesq - Sorry, I thought the 16mm was the track gauge. That would make it a bit less than twice 9mm (which is very close to N-gauge). So, 1:160 (N scale) x 1.8369... -> 1:87.1 (HO scale). If we multiply 9 (mm) by this factor, we get 16.5mm, which is where I got the track gauge for HO in metric units. IIRC, OO uses the same track, but is a ratio of 1:76, instead of 1:87.1.
Great video Allen. Some handy tips tucked in there. Love to see more of the "Wild Rose" build rather fancy having a go at this loco. I have downloaded the plans some time ago and have made a couple of parts. Like everyone time is short and luckily (or maybe not) lockdown has seen me fully employed. Regards Garry.

I was making these parts for a customer. I can make parts for people, like cylinders, wheels and such like. It's part of what I do in my workshop.
