Leah, I love that you adopted your beautiful daughter! My brother and I are both adopted! What a blessing! My advice is make sure the adoption agency has given you any and all medical information on the birth parents! I did and it actually saved my life! Every woman in my birth family died from breast cancer. I’m BRCA1+ and knowing that information led me to mammograms twice a year plus taking Tamoxifen. I was diagnosed with DCIS and had surgery in November 2023. I’m now cancer free! They got clear margins and no chemotherapy or radiation was required!

Life is too short to judge someone. I have family members who are gay and lesbian, and I love them so much! They have both been married to their partners for years, and their partners are family to me as well and I love them!

I divorced my husband in 1996 because I was miserable in my marriage and in 2024 he continues to stalk me. I’m living with my dad now knowing I’m safe here. I had the hope we could have remained friends but obviously that didn’t happen. My ex husband shows up places that I’m at as well as places that my brother and his family are. They don’t deserve to be stalked either. It’s so scary!

Thank you for your words about leaving a marriage if you’re unhappy. I’ve carried around a lot of guilt for leaving my narcissistic husband of 18 years because of the children. I kept asking myself, “If everyone else is happy, what does it matter if you if you’re not?” It was a hard decision but knowing I will never have to wake up in the same house as him again is a huge relief. Hearing your words today helped me feel less guilt. Not everyone feels that way. I had several “friends” comment that I should have stuck it out for the kids. We’re not friends anymore.
