50/50 chance that ~4kn snapgate carabiner opens on the microtraxion and the gate snaps off. (I might be speaking from experience😆)

Very clean view of tying the knot. Thank you! I have watched a couple other videos and this was clear, simple and short. 👍🏼 I will pass this one on to others.

in this situation I don't see why it would matter but when using a Tibloc are you not supposed to capture the rope as well instead of just the Tibloc?

Tibloc manual says either for inline loads. Rope must be captured by the carabiner for use as a progress capture, or for other perpendicular loads, e.g. horizontal traverse. Check the petzl tibloc manual for more details.

Looking at the ease of haul the load seems a little on the light side - Have you done this with 100kgs on the load side?

This is a great. Can you make a video about some of the other ways of accomplishing this. I've tried it with a rollnlok and the foot loop biner pinches the rope and prevents it from advancing

0:08 How is that not a twist?
@bluehawke99

Bit of a late reply, but I think the poster is referring to no twist in the loops of the bowline once tied, not no twist during tying. (edit - spelling)

Very nice and easy. Appears to be a true Portuguese bowline and not French. Good video.

My apologies to you Alan. You are correct. That IS an Alpine Butterfly.

That's not correct. This is an alpine, with a twist. Just an easier way to tie. Try it.

Sorry... but this is not the Alpine Butterfly Knot. It's an "unlinked loops" form, known as the Caver's Butterfly, aka the "False" Butterfly.
