I like your content. Thank you for sharing it. For complete columnar, the logic of keyword size +1 = no of columns is not true always. I have seen cases where this is not the case. Can you please check?

In the codebusters rules manual, it specifically states that it needs to be “one less than the columns used” which goes out to be one more than the crib. This should be correct if you are solving it for codebusters

@ Thanks for reconfirming. We use the prime factors and the positions of X to reconfirm the no of columns. But we like your method. It’s time saving, which is essential for the codebusters event.

If possible, could you go over how to solve xenocrypts and aristocrats with spelling errors?

for the k3 aristocrat key word, what do you do if the keyword doesn't have an a?
@YourSciolyCoach
@YourSciolyCoach 5 күн бұрын
You would work backwards, you would go to the ciphertext of B, and then solve the keyword backwards. If it does not have B, then you would go to the next ciphertext to see if it makes sense. You would continue until you find a string about three words that makes sense.

@@moo3949 In most codebusters tests(always at regionals and states), the test makers must use an offset of 1 to 3. My strategy works for offsets of 1, 2, and 3. This problem had an offset of 11 which makes it much more complicated to find out the keyword. You must use a different strategy that I will be going over in the next week, the one that you and I have talked about before. Thank you for showing this!!

Do you have a better method? This one doesn’t work with most k3s
@YourSciolyCoach
@YourSciolyCoach 9 күн бұрын
Hey!! This method works on most offsets of 1 and 2 and sometimes 3, which are extremely common on codebusters tests, but the real way to solve it takes too much trial and error for it to be a viable strategy. This is the best strategy for a K3 cipher on a codebusters test. If you want the other version for solving a K3, please let me know!!
@moo3949
@moo3949 9 күн бұрын
@ that would be great! I understand that the other version requires a run of letters then running it through the cipher text multiple times, but then from there I’m unaware on what to do.

Hey! What's different beteeen k1 and k2?
@YourSciolyCoach
@YourSciolyCoach Ай бұрын
Basically when you fill in the whole frequency table, either in the plaintext or ciphertext you will see a word appear. In K1, the word is in the plaintext, and in K2, the word is in the ciphertext. I hope this helps!
