This young woman's incredible talent is heartwarming and uplifting! Hollace...you play traditional bluegrass fiddle...classical music on the piano (amazing church performances), two of the most difficult instruments to learn... 6th place Adult Bluegrass Fiddle, 5th place Youth Mandolin at the Galax Old Fiddler's convention...(congratulations) Your skill level is incredible and it sounds like you really enjoyed dancing and playing! When did you start liking music? When did you start having your superpowers? When did the legend of HOLLACE OAKES begin...? :D

As a teacher I can tell you that very few of my Year 9 students can write at your level. Here is the marking rubric we use here and you've pretty much aced everything 👍. For extra merit you could relate a personal experience/reaction/anecdote along with the re-telling, maybe a humorous aside. The markers are always looking for something special. That's an awesome essay. You're getting a really good education. Here's another suggestion for a fun song, with room for instrumental parts: Istanbul Not Constantinople, by They Might Be Giants. Here's a fun cover of the song, put together by Anne Reburn: kzbin.info?search_query=anne+reburn+istanbul+

I can't believe I'm first to comment. . . These children and youths are good dancers! I recognize Hollace, Margo, and Nuni, so pretty in her beige beret--to the others also big thanks. When you go heel to toe, heel to toe it wigs me. Praises and joy to all! Thanks for including your lovely essay Hollace--you are an essential part of a truly wonderful community. Nailed the tune's ending, too.❤

Wow! That’s some powerful fiddlin’ by you two ladies. One solos while the other accompanies, switching off twice, then playing the last section together. A good solid rhythm guitar holds it all together while the fiddles soar. Beautifully arranged and performed! ❤👏

Y'all, that is FIRE, and I have wept from the pure joy of it! Hollace, folk like you, Carley, Margo and Ipi are real treasures. Please get in touch with Phoebe Sanders, who is out on the west coast (if you don't already know her), she is carrying on the Old Time tradition via clawhammer, and I will recommend all of y'all to her equally as enthusiastically! The talent that is coming from the Floyd Store epicenter is earthshaking, and y'all are the seismic activity within it!
