I love how this show depicts and shows the connection between the characters and gods. Ragnar is Odin, you can sre by his appewrance, his eyes, the crows that follow him, and his constant pursue to knowledge, Athlestan is probably jesus and eould represent how jesus and odin would act, because of how curious odin is. Bjorn is probably a reference to thor. The list goes on but these are pretty cool details to me

It’s really tragic that Ragnar’s oldest and most loyal friends, Leif, Arne, and Torstein died so young. Even Athelstan was taken away by treachery before his time. And the three closest men he had through his life, Rollo, Björn, and Floki, would all break his heart repeatedly in different ways despite him always trying to keep their interests in mind. But he had a lot to balance as an up and coming warrior, earl, and eventually king. And then there are his 4 youngest sons, who never really got to see their father in all his glory because he was weary and washed up by the time they came of age. Ivar is the only one of them to have gotten a look at the legen of Ragnar for himself. Ragnar would have lived a much happier life if Gyda had outlived him.
