I can imagine this is a painful process for this poor elephant 😢 you does it work to heel this abcess?
@elephantcareunchained10 күн бұрын
@Braunkitten yes it's painful for the elephant. Overtime this particular abscess would heal.

You’d think it would be less stressful for the elephant if they put it under and then worked on the abscess…
@elephantcareunchainedАй бұрын
@k.i.i.3699 this elephant requires daily lifelong care. The damage was done from 20 plus years of walking the streets. You can't fix it in one trimming so it's not practical to put the elephant under.

Is the bottom of their feet flesh or horn?
@elephantcareunchained4 ай бұрын
It's flesh similar to ours. Like a callous. Elephants actually walk on their toes. They do not have hoofs.
@nicoscarfo44864 ай бұрын
@@elephantcareunchained that's what I was thinking because you can see the nails on the side of the foot, I always thought giraffe were closest to horses but I learned today they have split hooves and are closer to deers

You should check out ‘The Hoof GP’ to see how cow foot injuries are handled.

Elephants don't have hoofs. There's a lot more going on than with a hoof. Elephants actually walk on their toes.
@peggysabbe38444 ай бұрын
What I’m referring to is the way they elevate the part of the hoof that is not injured. Keeping the weight off the abscesses part and promote healing. Providing much needed relief for the animal.

Why even bother yelling at them though. They'll listen if they want to. It's like yelling at a person. Who'd want to listen to someone who's yelling at you. Elephants are emotional so therefore there's an easier way to get them to listen to you and it isn't yelling. Just like horses. I watched this one stupid guy yell and hit his horse and the house wouldn't listen. I caught the house by baby talking to it
