Just started playing this game and it really has a LOT of gameplay. Love it!

E shuts off the engine. but if it's not your own car, you don'r really need to care. Q switches driving mode and you should pretty much always prefer comfort over sport or drift. then the autoshift doesn't rev so high, keeps the engine cool, doesn't sound that aggressive and all that... 😉 all driving jobs should level up your general driver level, the specialized jobs just level up that special level as well. the tutorial quests show you around and will end soon. then maybe try again with better vehicles or just do what you like. some grind for money and levels is involved, but you can always do a bit of this and a bit of that.

It's strange to watch, we do the same things, we think the same way, and we do things the same way, EXCEPT I go mad trying to click things by moving the camera to center them on the screen, ALT mode for the win ! Especially for driving, being able to lock the camera in a view where I can see always where I'm going and be able to reach the controls is godly.

the dynamic brake turns your tractions motors into dynamos, slowing you down while the generated amps are turned into heat. so you'll have to watch the temp gauge. but this kind of brake can be applied over a much longer time than the mechanical brake and helps with a decline. P.S.: don't ask me how that works on a diesel-HYDRAULIC loco, though. there must be dynamos especially for that or something.

so now you're playing two of my favorite games. I will definitely enjoy watching you learn. for handbrake: hold space until you come to a full stop. only then it will remain engaged when you release space

Pretty sure the only train sim that has implemented string physics is Run8 but that might have just been a rumour, DV doesn't have it so you are good to place the empties at the front and the heavies at the back. So far. :) You wouldn't want to do it on a real train though, unless you had distributed power.

Def get the DH4, it has more power than the DM3 without the complexity of a manual transmission. only thing you have to watch is the oil temp. but that usually can be lowered by just reducing the throttle a bit until the oil cools off.

I still recommend getting the Dispatcher license. Helps with not having to worry if a switch is set correctly because you can check and set it before you get there. Also works on the switches inside stations.

At least in earlier versions, empty cars would derail easier when sandwiched between heavy load and the loco. So I would do it just like you. I think all problems have been managed well, nice job. The brake light has been flashing in the end because you put the handbrake on. That is to be expected while shutting down or starting up.

Another word on the DM3 if you go to first person, on the right there are two levers and nearby you should find a gear shifting diagram on how to properly shift gears in that thing ,and not money shift like you did. Also, before shifting gear always disengage the throttle to avoid damage to the mechanical drivetrain. P.S. That last part also goes for the utility train you got a few ep ago. As it also has a mechanical gearbox albeit less complex.

Also, DON'T GET THE DM3!!! It has a fully manual transmission and is super complex. Even some experienced players avoid it if possible. I would get the DH4 more power, less complex (drives more like a DE2 but still different)also DH4 is MU capable. Edit: guess you found that first part out yourself, or maybe not, since you can use the driving UI.

Speed limits don't normally change by more than 10 km/h at a time, a speed sign with a down arrow means the next speed limit is more than 10 lower, a speed sign with an up arrow means the next speed limit is more than 10 higher. Normally the arrow just means the next change is 20 not 10, but there are a few that change by more.

On passenger trains, According to the Derail Valley roadmap, they are NET 2027. AI trains are NET 2026 so not anytime soon! Also on trees. I think the trees are randomly generated with each new save file so no 2 saves have the same trees so that is nothing the devs can change without doing some programming, but even that should be possible.

I don't understand your reasoning in the very first minute of the video. You need the train length 1 license to take jobs, that have that length 1 symbol on it. Same goes for length 2. The game mechanic does not add up the length of multiple jobs. So if you would have only length 1 (or 0) but concurrent 2, you could still assemble a train as long as you like. Anyway, a quick look with the pause button shows you have length 1 and 2 licenses. So what are you talking about? 😄

Not a fan of the whole F4 style of operation. It’s a personal preference I suppose. The longer episodes are preferred for me. Great game. I always play strictly 1st person myself.

Crafting bronze weapons is a great way to grind tech points.

A lot of people seem to have missed it, but with the Simulator release engine temperature stopped being a thing and the gauges now show the traction motor temperature (hence the label TM Temp). You still want the radiator at the front so the controls are in front of you not behind you, but it doesn't help with the cooling. The only way to cool traction motors is by putting less current through them (i.e. less throttle) or by going faster - forwards or backwards - so air blows over them faster. The abandoned engines have a lot of spawn locations to choose from and it's random which ones you get. Devs have said the spawn locations are all at or near stations, not out in the countryside. You can get more than one engine at one station, it's all random. If you REALLY want to cheat, each time you go through a new station go into your settings and turn the bushes right off and have a quick fly around. The game will look terrible but the engines will just be sitting out in the open, way easier than working down a list of possible spawn locations.

Hi! :) First, massive respect for sticking to default settings, especially no fast crafting. I can't do it, but I also don't cheese the game by fast crafting 1000's of stuff to sell - I limit myself to reasonable, non-immersion-breaking numbers and just have my villagers produce everything, so the pace is similar to yours. Second, a quality of like tip; when you're in inventory with a loooong list, like when trading - you can use Right Mouse Button click, instead of Middle Mouse Button scroll to get to the bottom of the list in a second. Just right click and pull/push, then let go and it'll scroll by itself. And then stop it at desired letter with another click. Very useful and time saving, especially if you're looking for specific item. Cheers!

I think one of the best early game licenses to get is Fragile and then going to Harbor and/or Machine factory. Fragile can pay pretty well, and you will need A LOT of money for the Demonstrators (source: My DV Bank account) for instance the Paint cans for the special Demonstrator paint jobs (only available at machine factory) are 30k a pop! (you need 2 per loco, so 360k just in paint (if you want to have the special paint jobs)). So the best approach is trying to make as much money as possible with the tools at hand and the fragile license is only 15k (iirc) which usually is a worthwhile investment that can pay for itself in a single contract. P.S. you should also consider getting the dispatcher license, which allows you to set switches from the station and route maps. (can take out some of the stress of watching out for unset switches since you can set your switches in advance (that's what i like to do)

In harbor there is a loading area B, it`s a military area, to which you can get access by obtaining the military license. There are some well payed contracts there. Most well payed requires hazmat 3 and military 3 licenses, which are quite expensive. But it really worth it. If you take two or three contracts at once and deliver them in time, you will get enough money to restore several museum locomotives =) Like you can earn about 1 mil in 3 runs if you are lucky with available contracts.

Donkeys are helpful with mining.

Was fun to watch and listen. Answering your question: imho an hour or hour and a half is optimal length for these kind of videos. In future episodes you can maybe make them shorter, if you cut some routine operations in order to show more interesting things in one video.

The mining skills with stacking work like this: After mining one block of or, you get one stack. At each stack you mine 10% faster. There are 3 skill points in the skill. So when mining, after 3 blocks, you mine 30% faster.

With the wooden bowls (and some other productions) the game tells you you can make 30, but that is 30 production cycles. One cycle for Wooden bowls is 5 created. So you made 150. But you will use them at some point since the bowls have durability just like tools and weapons when they're used.

Also, i find it a lot easier to zoom in to 1st person to pick up eggs and loot. Too hard to miss zoomed out in 3rd person, and eggs are just impossible to collect on the bottom lol. Edit: tbc, i mean using the scroll button on the mouse. You can change perspectives that way, too.

I wanted a farmer wife to tend my donkeys. She is so gung ho about working hard, she actually yelled at me about slacking off while i was doing something like buying tech or something like that lol. Yet...all she does is stand around and move a little bit around the donkey pen 😂😂😂

Well I'm up to date on this now. Nice entertaining video's. About the food priority, lower number get's eaten first I believe. So they'll eat flatbread before the cabage and carrots. Also, going in and out of first person works with mouse scroll for me aswell, but not 100% sure that is default.
