Thanks for the good tutorial! One of the greatest bluesy/jazzy piano and electric guitar intros to a legendary rock song! These guys often came from learning classical music, real musicians who knew about chords and harmony

Could have focused on Keys only; but that was fun watching the guitar.

I made my own version of this back in the day, but this sounds so much better. This is one song that I know got me laid. But it has other qualities.

Well, I'll just repeat what "spkeman" said 4 years ago in the comments: "sweet Baby Jesus, you've done it." It's like climbing a mountain, and you've demonstrated to us lessor mortals how to climb it as well. One of the greatest songs of the rock era, and you've broken it down for us. Thank you !!!

Is this in standard tuning, or is it a drop D, I can see how he plays it and the hybrid picking, but mine does not sound right, any feedback would be very welcome😊

There must have been a reason that I didn't know of this song until I got the Steven Wilson remix of Stand Up. I wanted to learn this song and here it is for me to learn quickly instead of stumbling around for months trying. Great tutorial

Really nice way to get the point across that's simple and understandable. So many "tutorials" over explain every fingering and fret position and with the added chatter it takes forever to get to the point -- which just gets more confusing than it needs to be. With your way, all it takes is a basic understanding of te instrument and it explains itself. Well done.

Nice, thanks. Our drummer does the intro, but I have to do the vamped chords part while he heads back to the throne. Then I switch to bass guitar for the rest of the song. Although I might shift back to key bass/piano from the instrumental on out. I take it that's all you're basically doing is vamping inversions of the chords with walking around some of the notes in that scale?

I'm a Guitar player who's always been incredibly Jazzed about the Piano blues-classical Intro to Locomotive Breath and watching your video I couldn't WAIT to see the singing start, the whole video then I saw the words "Go to Friday night lullaby for entire video"... but I went there and subscribed and I STILL can't see the entire video or any other video... HOW can I see your videos?

Outstanding! The slow demonstration is a great help to one that doesn't read music. Always wanted to do this song in it's entirety. Just playing in a bar cover band and can't wait to play it at our next gig. Thanks.

Don't know if you're still around yt these days fella, but i'm so grateful you chose to teach this masterpiece.I've got most of it down now althogh with it being a side angle shoot l struggle a bit to see some of the chord shapes at times.A direct view would address this if you ever did a revisit.Love the way you make it sing with standard tuning. There's another tutor in the thumbnails who really over complicates the piece, somewhat flying in the face of the sheer spirit of it imho. You do it the best sir.

I completely agree a direct shot would of made a world of difference..I am comparing his lesson to Jame Raymond standard tuning and picking up what I can from both..hope you got it down, shouldn't be to hard hopefully ! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iqKxioCCpsajrKM&start_radio=1&ab_channel=MatthiasHoerburger

The vocal part was real helpful breaking that down. Glad you included it. Also to anyone struggling with the hybrid picking I highly recommend trying tux guitar, it’s a free guitar pro program and you can find tabs to breakdown different songs and play along with. Anyways, breaking down the hybrid picking and playing a long with tabs real slow helped as well as watching others play. Great video
