Close your eyes and you just see the 6 packs flying around the floor..Better get on the floor before he starts or else you will find it difficult to do, same as get off the floor before he gets pasts the intro to the song....Such good memories of Pike and the Skate Ranch and that bass coming out of the Leslie speakers.

The back wall at C C SKATE RANCH with the lights flashing to the beat of "Special Lights"! along with the Strobe light in the ceiling. You really had to watch with the Strobe flashing, you'd be right up behind the person in front of before you realized how close you were to them....Great memories!

Great Shadow Waltz! I just picked up a Lowrey Stardust. My brother called and said a big building contractor client needed to get rid of their super clean Lowrey Stardust. He thought of me and said I could name my price they just needed it gone. I threw them 400 and am now quite pleased to be getting it. It's now a my brothers and I'll be getting it in a few weeks. If there is anything about it that I should watch for or any tips I's appreciate it. It has the owners manual and lots of white binders. Some discs. At first I thought it was going to be mediocre sound quality and maybe even cheesy compared to my Hammond TW organs, Conn Classic 815, Wurlitzer 4300, Wurlitzer 4410 electrostatic reed organ [Spinet version of the great 4600] ( such an underrated organ! Ken Griffin really opened up it's sound. Love Cruising Down the River, 67 Melody Lane, and Skating Time albums), but the more I listen to you guys who play the Stardust it sounds very alive and even analog, especially when pushing it. The A-series Lowrey's sound very very hi-def, but for some reason I like that the Stardust Su-series sounds very balanced without sounding overly compressed. I'm not saying I wouldn't love the Prestige A-series if it had showed up instead. This concert on one sounds great- *Greg Owen and Kevin Lloyd live at Wilson Performing Arts Center in Red Oak,Ia. @paulj0557tonehead thanks for that. This is Johnny Sharp. I have a Stardust. I did my best Christmas material on that along with some hand picked titles. I love the sound...but Lowrey's are not user friendly...for arranging. Bobby aced the Shadow Waltz for sure. Appreciate your comments.
@paulj0557tonehead3 ай бұрын
@@UTURN8888 You're welcome. Yes I was curious about the arranging. Can you program your own embellishments or are they pretty much what's in the organ exclusively? And is there a way to add new song titles from disc, and are they pre-orchestrated already. Who offered the new titles? Lowrey? There was something else I wanted to know, if I think of it I'll ask. Thanks!
@UTURN88883 ай бұрын
@paulj0557tonehead No on most of those questions. What you have to do is turn off many of those background items. Bobby was using the bass pedals. Most Lowrey players don't use them. It is very time consuming to have your sound, and not Lowreys sound.
@paulj0557tonehead3 ай бұрын
@@UTURN8888 I never use arpeggiators and accents, and have never even had an organ with auto bass that I can recall. Still some of these Stardust backgrounds seem well thought out by good creative musicians in many cases. It's nice that it exists for novice players who hate sounding like simpletons on such a beast of an organ, but the beauty of organ is often less is more. Jesse Crawford and Ken Griffin proved that.

I spent many hours at a Hammond console in a number of rinks. Wonderful training for playing because it's like having 3 hours of practice many days per week, but you're getting paid to practice, and playing to a metronome is really helpful if you later go on to play in bands for dancing.

Can you do a lesson on this?
@UTURN888810 ай бұрын
Thanks for asking. But I never took any lessons, so I am not really good at teaching. For me, I listened to the song and played what I heard. I elected to play it in the key of E...same as the record. The trick is co-ordinating the bass line (left hand keyboard) with the melody and fills. The pedals just follow the root bass note. I wish I could be more help, but I don't think to much about the details. I just play what I hear. Js
