Is there a practical way to batch enter database link values? At 5:38 in your excellent video you show how easy it is to replace a text field with a database link. That works well for manual data entry, but what about the case where I want to create a new database from a CSV import? It seems I would have to have a magic format for the cell content that would be parsed by the importer.

What advantages does the Confluence database hold over a regular kanban board? Or is this an alternative for those who only use Confluence and not Jira (Software)?

That's just it TommyWork-Work, this is really just a was to visualize database content in a different way. The kanban view is particularly helpful for teams not working in work management tools like Jira or Trello.

Hi @jananderson6278, a lot of different solutions for how to structure your content are possible and supported in our Scroll Apps. We don’t really impose strict rules in that regard. To give you tailored advice on what structure might be best for your particular content and way of working, you can reach out [email protected] and we’ll be more than happy to help. Cheers, Steffen

@_k15tАй бұрын
We find databases are most useful in those situations where you find yourself creating giant tables for of information. In those cases, often the value of the information is lost because it's hard for people to skim through and find the content they need. With databases, you can store all the same information, but then create views that show just the information people need. Field types also help with data entry, helping keep your information accurate and consistent. Check out our Use Cases playlist to see examples of how we use them internally: kzbin.info/aero/PLVvtVyEIKNWjK5m7ynEVr2ZU7M4z1rry4

Hey, will Scroll PDF Export and Scroll Viewport support databases at some point? I'm evaluating using both for my company (around 150 users) and I'm also starting to use databases. It seems like a very useful feature, but without support from PDF export, I would have to keep using "dump tables" for the content I want to export. I really liked the feature where it embeds a database entry as a table into pages, making them update dinamically, but it does not export. Thanks for the video, very useful.

We would love to support databases in Scroll PDF Export and Scroll Viewport, but we can't at the moment 😓. We're hoping that Atlassian will add support in the future to enable this. In the meantime, you can follow along here: jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONFCLOUD-77993

@@_k15t you mean that atlassian does not provide apis yet for you to add support?
@_k15tАй бұрын
@@AvanciniAndreas It's not about APIs exactly. Confleunce has what's referred to as the "export view". Essentially, it's a read-only view of Confluence components that our apps can then export. Many Confluence visual elements are supported in this view, but the Confluence team currently doesn't support databases yet.

Is there a view that allows the user to select/lookup a value from a field and filter on that? I'd like to build a Confluence page that does a lookup on a DB field and then displays that record.
@_k15t2 ай бұрын
This is a very cool idea! The best we can think of would be to have people use the quick search in the top right corner or to add a filter to one of the fields. Not as intuitive as what you're suggesting, but we've had some success with it.

@к15Т DO you guys know why If I embed a link to a cell from a DB in a page in a table and the DB cell type is date, tag or multiline text, I cannot edit in place the field within the page. Is this a bug or a feature?
@jankvaca87882 ай бұрын
This is all nice and well, until you need to work with a really large database which is where the Confluence database are reaching its limits. I needed to work with a database with around 3000 rows and 8 columns. The import is not able to handle such large file - the browser crashed. I had to import the rows by like 200 rows in each batch. When I was finally able to get all the data in I realized how slow working with the database was. Updating a simple text field took somewhere between 10-20s - absolutely useless. This was a relatively simple static database, without any other database linking - I imagine this would be even more slow. Bottom line, great functionality, I can see this really helpful in a lot of use cases, but be aware of the amount of data you're planning to put in.
@_k15t2 ай бұрын
Really good point here. We actually talked with Christina from the Confluence team all about this on our recent livestream and she said the team is working on improving these types of large database experiences: kzbin.inforTO7QtdQ5a0?feature=share

Very good video! I was wondering if there's there a way to lock one part of the filtering to add more values? From your examples in the video for the table "Content Library". I want to first filter out all that is "youtube video" from the column "Type", and then I'd like to also filter out priority from column "Priority" and see all issues that is Medium AND Low priorities. How do I filter them at the same time without it selecting other types? Because if I choose that i want to filter to match ALL entries it will show me other types than youtube video. Is there a way to solve that kind of filterproblem?
@_k15t2 ай бұрын
Such a great question, at this point, databases only support ALL (and) or ANY (or) filtering applied to the entire filter. The ability to mix and match would be a nice addition.

Great webinar, I'm really looking forward to implementing this in our help center. Thank you for letting me be part of the EA program. That said, I also want to take this opportunity to highlight the issues that prevent me from starting to use it in October. The current solution underweights the article headings, which means the standard search can often be better than the AI search. It's great that you mentionted the language issue and the lack of differentiation between the selected space/product, that's also highly important. I'm also looking forward to the content optimization guide for AI.
@_k15t3 ай бұрын
@laoshu8311 Thanks so much for the feedback and we're glad you found the webinar valuable! A few points to share: - For the article headings, we've just discussed an improvement to give article headings more relevance. It will not part of the GA, but planned as a follow up. - The issue with the lack of differentiation between selected space/product is something that will be fixed for the launch in October. - For content optimization, we already have something to share! There's a new article in our best practices section that outline a few recommendations already, and we will continue to add to this: help.k15t.com/scroll-viewport/optimizing-for-searchability-and-retrieval-for-sta We hope this provides a bit more clarity around some future steps and we do hope you're eventually going to be able to fully use the feature on your help center. can we create a project. plan/task management in confluence itself as you talked about adding trello/jira boards in confluence but is there a way to create project plan in confluence ?
@_k15tАй бұрын
Well, this isn't really Confluence's strong suit. You can certainly create simple tasks in Confluence, but they're not nearly as flexible as issues in Jira or Cards in Trello. You also can't really create a proper project plan like you might with a Trello board or Jira board. So check out tasks, but we'd suggest using Jira or Trello, since they're purpose built for this type of thing.

How did you create the Contact field so that each entry had it's own link to it's own page?
@beetledigital793 ай бұрын
Ok I figured it out - you have to select the settings cog at the top of the field column for that contact name, then change the Field Type to Page Link, and select Page Creation, so that when you enter the contact's name, a new page is created which is nested beneath the Database. This will then display on the left hand side confluence page tree, and you can select the contact name to open the detailed page in a new tab.

@_k15t4 ай бұрын
Hi @katerynakuntsova6045, what do you mean by "turned it on"? Can you explain this a bit further? The automation tab you see in your space is to configure automation rules for your space. If you turn on a specific rule, the automation is set to run and if the trigger of your rule is triggered then the automation should run, for example a page is published,. But there is no specific UI or anything to enter an automation. The only two option which show up in the UI are "manual triggered" automations which are shown in the little lightning icon next to your edit button of a page and "smart buttons" which is a maco you can embed into a page. Cheers, Steffen
