Ukraine has a huge portion of Russia's population, so they're always an excellent target to "liberate" if you want to cripple the motherland. Excellent strategy.

Love the crafty Spanish war to get Poland, liberate Belarus, Ukraine and the Don Cossacks, truly some proper 19th century politicking. Once the infamy comes down a bit, could you perhaps pull the same play with Bengal? Maybe they've got an ally worth taking a large chunk out of for minor gains on the subcontinent? As for education, I think by this stage in history it's a worthwhile compromise with the more liberal minded. With it being a state institution, you would in theory have plenty of control over the curriculum, and you need literate people to work in your radio factories, operate tanks and dreadnoughts, and fly airplanes. Heck, even the newly conquered coal miners in Poland will need to know how to read to operate the machinery, and the TNT instructions! Anyway, any non-literate person would be exposed to some kind of liberal pirate radio, most certainly being broadcast in the Empire, so I say teach every child to love the Kaiser, so long as it's in German.

You should go for China like the Europeans did in real-life. They have more coal, more grain, more gold, and more resources overall than any other country You can also go for Africa and maybe industrialize it since they have so many resources
@abdulpadela473822 күн бұрын
I just want to point out that just because Germany has a public education system doesn’t make it any less conservative or autocratic. Education systems are ideological constructs in of themselves and I can imagine a curriculum geared towards creating the ideal German citizen-subject that also gets Germany the technical basis on which to compete with and dominate the other great powers
@An_Economist_Plays22 күн бұрын
But the idea of education for *all* is something of a liberal notion, when compared to offerings and expectations under serfdom.
@abdulpadela473822 күн бұрын
@@An_Economist_Plays True, but nationalism was once a liberal idea and is now considered a thoroughly conservative one. Liberal and conservative are not fixed poles but change in relation to society. I think it’s more useful to think of them as mindsets then necessarily tied to any specific policies - conservatism is about protecting hierarchy while liberalism values individual freedoms
@ronysummer63722 күн бұрын
The presence of a public education system in Germany does not inherently absolve the country of conservative or autocratic tendencies. Education, as an ideological tool, can be shaped to serve the interests of the state, and in this case, it is conceivable that the German curriculum is designed to foster a sense of national pride and superiority, while also providing the technical skills needed to assert its power on the global stage. This strategy ensures a steady supply of citizens who are both ideologically aligned with the state's vision and technically proficient, making Germany a formidable force in international relations.

@@An_Economist_PlaysThe hell does the US know about human rights, tho? Fugging kissinger funded a coup in my country that made us live under a dictatorship for 3 decades. They killed over a million iraqis in a bogus war in the 2000s, They fund palestinian genocide by giving billions in military aid to the apartheid state of Israel. They put women in jail over miscarriages. Child marriage is legal in many places. Their hospitals can literally deny people without health insurance. The healthcare system is so overun by corporate greed that its considered a death sentence for poor people or people without insurance to get cancer. Private companies are literally bribing politicians into reducing the minimum age to work by funding their campaigns putting literal middleschoolers into the workforce. But go ahead, The US is a pinacle of freedom human rights and whatnot, just ask Asange

@@joaovitormendescerqueira6985 Excellent follow-up. 🙂 So the question is, if the surpassing is in stats only or in more meaningful, but less measurable ways. The Chinese population is 4x that of the USA, so their per capita GDP needs to be only 1/4th of the USA's to match it in terms of total economic size. But that doesn't take into account things like the USA's banking system and the dollar being the de facto reserve currency for the world. China needs to do much more than have a big GDP to become an economic focal point of the world.

That section of the Croatian coast would be world famous for how often it appears on German rail ads, though it does look like the eastern Balkans could use some schnaps and schnitzel. Interesting thought experiment on the status of Indians in the Imperial holdings. I'd have to imagine race and religion would factor into the discussion, but the fact that Germany has so much good agricultural land in Europe would probably mean more grain could stay in India. Excellent series, as always, very glad KZbin put your channel in my recommendations list!

You should have built important stuff, like telephones at home, not in a colony. I wonder what's next? Pushing back Russia? Balkan cleanup? It's better for Germany to keep law and order there, before some silly thing escalates into a major war. Scramble for Africa? It's easier to manage the colonies if they touch each other.

I needed to build where the workers were, to get it staffed up. One of the mods I'm using will delete out factories with insufficient staff, so it's important to get industry started in areas with available pops. Also, Oklahoma *is* an incorporated state and we have documents from 1147 showing that it was once part of the Holy Roman Empire... :-)

3:10 Did Germany lose it's "autocracy" because it was less optimal then the Brits and the French or did they lose it's political structure because well, they lost. And did they lose the war because their system was less efficient or because the Kaiser and his clique was diplomatically incompetent?
@An_Economist_PlaysАй бұрын
Excellent questions, all of them. I would say for the first that the autocracy was already eroded after voting rights were granted. For the loss of the war, it was because the British cultivated a relationship with the USA in the late 1800s while throwing Germany under the bus every chance it could. With the USA backing the British right to blockade, the Germans were unable to feed themselves properly.

Thank you for the insanely good mod list and best wishes for your series. However, I have a question regarding the new trading system. As I have noticed while using the mod list, even though trading is productive and in high levels (as much as trade level 33) there are trade routes which results in income loss. Could it be because the AI prioritise production of important materials as tools? Last time I was trading with UK 2.5k tools resulting in 14k income loss. I would be really happy if you could explain the change about it, thanks in advance.
