Checked the Starlink app to see the draw and it is at about 20 watts. We are on the road. My wife is listening to Pandora and I am watching KZbin. Just to clarify she is driving. I have a few other things running in the van such as tool battery chargers/fridge so there was likely something else drawing at the time. The Storyteller battery lasts days without a high idle/ driving.

So anyone can lift it up with lock attached, and unscrew the eyelet with lock still on. 🤨

Would be very cumbersome but could be done. Probably will add another lock and eye to the other side of the handle to prevent that. Thanks for the comment!!! Don't take my Starlink mini before I have a chance to remedy it 😀Just as a side note I was cutting new trailer chains to length with my 18v angle grinder with a cutting wheel and it cut like butter in a matter of moments, so I guess safety measures are there to have the robber go to an easier target.

Really enjoyed your video and setup, just ordered all the items you listed to do the same setup on our Storyteller. One question though. At the 12V oujtlet on the roof I assume you plugged in an ATP female connector. They come with a pigtail. I assume this is spliced into your SAE connector leading to the barrel where inside there is another splice to the Starlink power cable? Two splices in total or just one? Thanks for producing this video.

I switched the wire in the ATP connector to the SAE extension cable, although this was a bit of a pain. Here is a video to show how. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6S6nWdod7WZmKc Going back I probably would had just connected the wires out of the pigtail to my black and red wires of the SAE extension cable. This is the connector that I use to unplug and to plug it in on the SAE side near the location of the dish. This part is outside of the waterproof housing. Inside the waterproof housing I connected the SAE cable/ 2.1 mm female barrel connector to the Starlink style cable. I used some silicone on the end with the two flat cables after I tightened it down to keep it waterproof. Then simply plug the Starlink style cable with the two gaskets into the mini. You are all set for an awesome system. Just got back from Moab and used it on the trip and it worked great. Even through some crazy rain/ wind on the way home.

You're pulling over 100w with just the small dish? Ouch. I see others with gen 2 converted to 12v and an aftermarket router, at under 40w. Are you sure the 100w is just the dish/router? I see other sites listing the Starlink Mini at 15-40w.

Sheila and I have yet to travel as we so desperately wish to, thanks to this thing most of us seemed cursed with, WORK! But thus far Moab / Utah in general is our top destination for beauty, fun and off roading. The initial spot this video started was that just a made vista stop or are there primitive camping throughout that area. We ourselves didn’t make it out to this area on our first trip/adventure to Moab in May. And always thank you for sharing your beautiful work/ video. ❤

@@Lt184 thanks for the kind words. We were also there in May! Perhaps we saw you. We did see 2 STOs while we were there. We always wave, so if you passed someone waving at you it was probably us! 😊 Yes, we have an in person job as well. For now… 😏 The goal is to one day have traveling as our job or at least have a remote job we can do while traveling. For now it's vacations as much as possible. Save up $$, PTO, and jet out. Then return home to start the process all over. 2023 was a good year. We were able to do several 4 week trips. 2024 hasn't worked out that way yet, but we still have half the year to go so hopefully that will turn around. At the beginning of this trail there are 3 or 4 campgrounds, The Ledge Campgrounds, that are filled on a 1st come basis. Nightly fee is required. This area we stopped to film seemed to be for camping, but there wasn’t a sign against or in favor of camping. There was an established path and a fire ring so it seems like people must camp there. Safe travels! Here’s to hoping they’ll be more frequent for both of us. 🤞

I love Weimaraners. We had two whenever I was growing up and my parents currently have a "blue" One that is really black. You can see why someone might call them blue when they are in bright sunlight and there is a blue sheen to their coat but I don't know why they call them blue. Weimaraners are super smart loyal and very affectionate. I would really like a gsp weimaraner mix one day but am not sure how the result would be. Gsp's are really cute and affectionate but are dumb than a sack of rocks. I would like to combine the traits of both as Weimaraners are super smart and trainable where at least our gsp has no food drive making it very hard to train him.

@@tridentadventure3022 That is 100% true. My parents had a backyard with a pool and only a few hundred square feet for the dogs to run around in and they would get to go out to our hunting lease each weekend but that was not enough exercise for them and they tended to misbehave. Now that they live on a couple acres of property their dogs are much better behaved.

We appreciate your feedback, but it seems our tastes in music diverge. We cherish the authenticity of our experiences, even if they don't align with everyone's preferences. While you may find the music "loud" and "screeching", for us, it's part of the ambiance we enjoy. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, but we'll continue to prioritize genuine experiences over conforming to conventional standards.

I have augmented the off-road capabilities of all my vehicles. I enjoy this process and it pays dividends when I am able to adventure to places where stock vehicles are not able to go. The process of integrating these components into a vehicle and how they all work together does at times sprout unintended consequences. Working through these is also very interesting to me. I am always amazed at my vehicles after the modifications and how truly capable they become. They have taken me and my family to some amazing places. I had not thought of the odometer situation so thanks for bringing that to my attention. I will be seeking a solution for that but believe I will still keep the GPS heads up display as it allows me to have less time that my visual field is off of the road ahead. I am very excited to bring more videos into production. These videos will present what I have done on all of my vehicles and am appreciative of the community for being a part of refining those ideas.
@xyphur
@xyphur 6 ай бұрын
Your odometer is no longer recording accurate mileage of the vehicle - it will be showing less mileage than has actually been traveled. If you're going to do stupid things like running oversize tires, at least do it properly. One could argue that this constitutes fraud, as it is technically tampering with mileage.
