You can start the calculations for deciding outer diameter and thickness of rollcage pipe. You have adhere to the minimum requirement asked in the Baja rulebook. Then after that you can create custom template as per given outer diameter and thickness and assign as per the rulebook.

Hey man !!!! In this video on what basis are you placing that rack there???
@ASquareCD
@ASquareCD 2 жыл бұрын
In this suspension, I have taken the steering geometry as Anti-ackerman. So on basis of that when you view from top view, steering rack will come ahead of the line joining the both front wheel centers. And also I placed at a height so that we have space for creating mounting for it and I left clearance for the roll cage Fram pipes.

i want to make a tyre of180/55-ZR17 and a custom rim for it but I am confused with its dimensions, isn't there any brand which gives cad files of the tyre
@ASquareCD
@ASquareCD 2 жыл бұрын
No, There is no brand which gives CAD file of tyre. However you can search in Grabcad library for the CAD of the tyre you are looking for. You can also download my tyre CAD and customize it as per your dimesnions. Link is in the description. In case you dont know about the dimensions of your tyre, let me decode for you. 180/55-ZR17= 1. Rim size - R17 = 17 inches= 431.8 mm (This is rim diameter) 2. tyre width=180 mm 3. aspect ratio = 55 4. tyre profile height= 99 mm 5. Tyre overall diamter = rim diameter + 2 X tyre profile height => 431.8 + 2 x 99 = 629.8 mm 6. Z is permissible speed limit rating. Check the speed rating index for the speed. Thats it. I hope i solved your query.

@@ASquareCD thank you for replying. What I mean by dimensions is the curves and thickness of the tyre which you have set while modelling.
@ASquareCD
@ASquareCD 2 жыл бұрын
@@ashishac7913 yes, nice question. I previously had done a project on Tyre making, so that's how I know it. I suggest for making the inner cross-sectional profile, you need to read on Tyre construction, thickness of plies, safer groove depth, tread height, Tyre carcass thickness, sidewall height, etc. These are some terms if you Google them you can get lot of references and idea about thickness. And regarding dimensions of curves, there is no defined dimensions for them. It can be arbitrary provided you do the structural and thermal analysis of the Tyre. Based on the results of analysis, you can modify those curves as per your design boundaries.

Yes. You see every line has 2 points in SolidWorks. And those points have x y z coordinates. Just note down coordinates of points like, Upper ball joint Lower ball joint Wheel centre Spindle end. How did you find the length of tie rod in 3D and also rack position?
@ASquareCD
@ASquareCD 2 жыл бұрын
Basically, here I have shown how to create the architecture or say 3d wireframe of a suspension/steering geometry. I have not shown the calculation part of any parameter. It is just the designing. Now, to calculate length of tie rod, you need to analyze the steering rack length and it's height + steering arm angle + steering arm length in some suspension software like LOTUS. Also, turning radius and Ackerman/ anti-ackerman percentage is also considered while evaluating tie rod length. So, that can be done as a separate video.

How to determine the rool center and motion ratio?
@ASquareCD
@ASquareCD 2 жыл бұрын
For Roll center, you need to create instantaneous center's for both front and rear suspension and from there roll center can be determined. I am bringing up the video for rear suspension geometry soon, after that I can make a video for that. For Motion ratio, you need to know your suspension travel and wheel travel. the formula is suspension travel divided by wheel travel. It can be determined from geometry as well. I will put up a video for that as well.
