Yeah, I came from GB and I know I'm sponsored by them but... I honestly don't like their paddles lol. Good to see another person coming from the ultimate and onto another paddle like myself. Right now, my go to is the 3s but I'm starting to think I have no super loved paddle. I do want to try the ripple but nothing feels like a tennis swing to me.
@pickleliКүн бұрын
Well I still like the gearbox paddles haha, but that being said, I haven’t tried a bunch of other paddles. But yeah I feel like the 3s (disregarding them breaking easily) and other similar paddles are just a better option cuz gearbox is heavy and the ultimate in particular have a super high balance point lol Hit the ripple a little and I think it would be one of the best paddles assuming they don’t get banned which currently constructed probably would lol

I came from the gearbox pro ultimate and I would say it plays relatively similiar from the baseline in terms of resets like the pop and feel. I suprisingly didn’t really need an adjustment period. I used a similiar set up and the trufoam is lighter + more spin, but may have a little less power on like overheads. Im a topspin drop/drive guy so like the longer dwell times and this has that.

@ damn whats the stock weight!
@pickleliКүн бұрын
I didn’t weigh it before hand but probably 8 😅 After 3 gram strips on both sides, a little copper tape on the handle and a fake hesacore, mine weighs 8.9 but doesn’t feel too bad to me! (I’m used to playing with a heavier paddle coming from my gearboxes lol)

@@pickleli I used the gearbox pro ultimate for a bit, but found it a bit slow at the kitchen - think the TruFoam makes up for that lack of speed? also, thoughts on it being banworthy???
@pickleliКүн бұрын
I am try to improve my flicks and what not so I do like having my paddle a little lighter, so I will trade in the slightly extra power for the speed with the trufoam haha. The pro ultimate has a high sweet spot so I had to add lead on the handle/slyce cap to get it the way I like it which made it overall heavy for most ppl (I was used to it) I do a similiar set up on my trufoam and same control/sweetspot I like but is a bit lighter to flick haha
@pickleliКүн бұрын
Tru foam definitely has light swing weight I believe, especially if you play it stock Don’t think it will be banned cuz it doesn’t hit extremely hard compared to other paddles. Compared to my friend’s paddletek, the pop off the paddletek is more, but I like the dwell time of the gearboxes and the trufoam for control and shaping the ball

@@pickleliso what are your thoughts? I’m about to get a ultimate elongated, but since I saw news about trufoam I’ve got confused
@pickleliКүн бұрын
In general, if you can handle heavier paddles (which I can) then the ultimate may be good for you. It has an abnormally high balance point so I would highly recommend lead on the handle/slyce cap to balance it out. That being said, in general a lot of reviewers say the ultimate hyper is a better paddle, so I would go with that first honestly if you are willing to play with a wide body The trufoam has a similiar plush feel (like the dwell time) as the gearbox in my opinion and I really like it. But if you are looking for like max power, I think the ultimate more. So yeah if you have trouble with hand speed, I wouldn’t get the ultimate but if you have relatively good hands and can handle a heavier paddle, then I think it’s a solid choice
