How about get a 'plastic welding tool' and then you can 'weld' multiple tarps together in whatever size you desire? There is such a tool for fixing polyethylene kayaks, some kind of electric iron-looking or spatula-looking device, which is said to work great. But actually I would ponder skipping the tarp and using household-grade xps foam board which can be weatherized by the "foamie build" style of construction, which preps the surface of the board by simply sanding it, then uses outdoor household paint (or common wood glue) as if it were an epoxy resin, and any cotton sheet (or common household screen-door material) as if it were fiberglass cloth weave, for a result which is incredibly sturdy and featherweight light. xps foam sheet is inexpensive, 4'x6' sheet is like $20, from any home construction store. Using these sheets you could make a solid awning made up of multiple small xps foam panels connected by flexible seams of painted fabric, similar to how a skin-on-frame kayak also paints its fabric, then the entire awning could be unfolded into the rigid structure, or folded up for storage. It would be completely weatherproof and then after years of use just repaint it with the same household-grade outdoor paint. Dig up the howto's on building kayaks using xps foam sheet.

You sound like an engineer. d;^) I've used one of those welders on plastic kayaks. I don't think it will work on these tarps but I'll check. anything rigid would have to be stored or disposed of when not in use. We need to be able to fold and store in the cockpit lockers. or it has to be cheap and easy enough to build in one day discard and replace from time to time.

Hey Chuck, glad to hear you’re doing well! As for the boat, I figure I retired so that I’d have leisure time, to leisurely work on the boat! At least your choice to keep it smaller means a bit less to work on. 😊 ❤ to you and Laura Kent and Megan, s/v Demeter

Laura's schedule is too crazy for us to do Live Streams. Our most recent recording of reading the Pilot was delayed for two hours because Laura was called out for an emergency after putting in a 12 hour day at the clinic. Future content will focus on Boat, Pet Center, and Life in Southeast Alaska. How much of each will depend on our viewers.

Good to see you in your monologue setting! Having a house and a business in combination with a boat is hard for anyone, even without health issues...
@Cruisinglealea5 ай бұрын
Fortunately, the business is pretty much Laura's baby. I have very little to do with it. I take care of . the boat and the household. I think I will make the monologue from the boat a regular thing.

It's a relatively new problem. Glo never mentioned it until a few years ago when a purse seiner went on the beach across the narrows on Kupreanof. It's right in front of her as she sits at her desk in the North Harbor office. Still there, rotting away on the beach. I think it's kind of "Picturesque" but it really bugs Glo. Then there are a couple of floating wrecks in the harbor too. $10K just isn't enough to deal with the problem anymore.

Do you mean that you now own and run a veterinary clinic? That is so cool! Why was it in Fast Forward?
@Cruisinglealea6 ай бұрын
Yes. We now own the Petersburg Pet Center. Paid it off last year. There will be more on the clinic soon. That was the best we had. Not good enough but I wanted to share it anyway. There will be lots of furry animal stuff coming. Cruising with pets etc. also boat maintenance, cruising and Island Life in Southeast Alaska.
