@TrailTrialerMTBАй бұрын
Hurtwood car park (3) at the top of the hill. Not too far as its all downhill via trails to get there. I’d recommend parking in Hurtwood car park 2 though as it’s at the bottom and much nearer to peaslake.

wow it’s strange seeing those old Brandon side tracks without all the features. Such a shame, spent countless hours riding that set before they got destroyed. Great to see some proper mtb content from Suffolk and Norfolk! Get down twisted oaks someday, albeit not the best for an actual ‘ride’.

Which road is that parking on, fed up of paying the costs of High Lodge 😂
@divedaz5 ай бұрын
If you want the security of a paid carpark, park at Brandon Lodge, it's much cheaper. Has a cafe and wc. Or just park in any of the many laybys (but remember wich one)
@TrailTrialerMTB5 ай бұрын
Agree with the comment, best place ideally is Brandon country park, cheap, security and right next to great off piste trails. But this video I parked on the fire road near the bottom of the beast, where the bottom of the beast is, turn left and the first fire road on the left on BCP side of the road. I only did this so I could carry my tools up to trim those bushes more easily - I usually park in Thetford as have an annual pass for all FE sites but do agree it’s a bit steep for a day 😅

Hi thanks for this post, I went through this trail yesterday June 2024, it’s really good fun however it’s overgrown with vegetation, branches and bracken impeding the trail in most places. It’s free but it does need some maintenance. It’s also slightly different now.

I thought it said "Trek Remedy 5 - year review" like you bought an older Remedy 5 and put it through the ringer . I didn't realize the title meant Trek Remedy 8, one year review. I bought a remedy 5 a couple of years ago, and its plenty of bike for anything I will ever do. Besides, it fit my budget at the time. YMMV 😉

The riding is spectacular in this wood. Decent uphills and downhills, jumps, obstacles, and the occasional log. Most with easier routes if you need them. It also has a nice mix of horses, dogs, cyclists, adults, children, and tons of wildlife in space. Lots of birds and squirrels for starters, deer too. Serene with distinct seasonal changes, it's navigable almost all year round with the right tyres: the 'wet shallow mud on a hard base' sections can provide some entertaining sideways off-season moments. There will also be times when you have no choice but to ride through pedal-deep bog, and on one occasion it rained so much the grease got completely washed out of the bike's crown and headset. It was a squeaky and gravelly ride home. Your poor arse will thank you for full suspension: Bacton is not short of roots. It has more roots than Roots Manuva having a root canal while driving on Route 66 in a Rutabega-coloured Winnibego. It's great as it is, and would benefit from maintenance at the same time. An awkward un-banked 90-degree left-hander at the bottom of one downhill section can be a bit of a sphincter-puckerer, and the log jumps in one of the centre sections could be a little more accessible. Good to see someone blasting through them all though. There is a volunteer team who tidies the trails and I know of at least one guy who built rideable see-saws and other tricks in there.

The trail at 4:13 is honestly the worst bit of trail building I've ever come across, it should be a lesson in how not to build a trail, it's a complete disaster, and it doesn't flow at all.

@frankiez74147 ай бұрын
looks like you need to know where you are going before riding other wise you'll spend most of the time looking where to go. No good unless its maintained or way marked
@TheGlynja7 ай бұрын
It's not too bad - just think of it as a slightly lop-sided square with the car park in the '2' position on a clock face. If you get lost, just keep riding in the same direction until you get to a bit you recognise. If you hit the edge of the woods (road or field), turn either left or right and follow the edge until you get back to the car park. The perimeter is only 2km-3km depending on the specific path you take.
