I am glad to be living in a time where we can appreciate Skeletonwich. Easily my favourite black/melo/thrash band ever. They are their own thing. I saw them at Heavy MTL in 2008 and they fucking slayed 🤘

Absolutely! I'll never forget the first time I put that album on. Such a sick album. Killer production as well.

SkeletonWitch rule! I have them ranked perma, serpents, fire and then forever abomination. I didn’t like gloom at all and so never gave radiant light a chance. But after watching this video I definitely am going to.

Hey man, I've just found your channel, and I really enjoyed this video. I absolutely LOVE Skeletonwitch, but must admit I haven't heard much from their last 2 releases - great little reminder right here for me to give them a proper listen! I've just started a channel myself and would hugely appreciate it if you could take a look and let me know what you think... Cheers! 🤘

I am generally in agreement with your assessment of the records as well as your rankings. I am probably an outlier here, but I don't actually like Beyond the Permafrost. Something about it just doesn't "click" with me. As with all bands I think some times it takes a while for the individual members to realize what the sound of the band is if that makes sense. Dillinger Escape Plan follows this theme for me. A lot of people like their original couple albums a great deal and I will say that they're good, but that I don't like listening to them. It took a couple of albums for them to really figure out what their sound is. Their last four albums were all, in my opinion, some of the best music to be written. That thought leads me into the shift from Chance to Adam. Serpents Unleashed is an absolute masterpiece of an album and when The Apothic Gloom came out it felt like a massive step in the wrong direction to me, but in retrospect it feels like the band was trying to figure itself out again. Adam's voice is different from Chance's and so the band needs to work together to figure out what their sound is. Devouring Radiant Light was better than The Apothic Gloom, and I think their next album will be even better still. I'll just conclude with this, it must have been so painful for the members of the band, especially Nate, to remove Chance from Skeletonwitch. At first I was pretty angry about it, but watching footage of some of their later shows it is clear to me how large of a problem Chance's drinking had become. And I'm sure there was a lot more going on behind the scenes that not many saw. I hope that Chance takes the opportunity to get his life back on track. I also am hopeful for the future of the band. I feel like with Adam on board they'll be able to continue into the future making new and exciting albums.

Great comments! I agree with your sentiments regarding Chance’s departure. That must have been awful for all involved.

Mostly agree with your ranking except Forever Abomination. That one is prob more like third for me. My first is probably Serpents Unleashed or Beyond The Permafrost. I absolutely loved Devouring Radiant Light, but it has one major drawback in my ears; The lyrical change. I'm by no means against growth and I'm not only into darkness and evil, but the lyrics really just seem displaced to me. I can't help but be jarred out of the awesome sound when I know what he is singing about. His lyrics just seem too bright and positive for what the band usually has, or even what they now sound like. The content is a bit too 'core, which is what his background is and that sort of shows in his lyrical ideas, imo. Otherwise I love the direction they seem to have gone.

Always respect people opinions but I will say I get very confused at people saying I have a hardcore background? I was the vocalist for Veil of Maya from ‘05 - ‘07 when I was 16-18 years old. I spent over a decade playing and writing mostly black metal and death metal since then and am now 34 years old. I don’t think that qualifies as a ‘core background but that’s in the eye of the beholder I guess? Anyways, nice video man!

@@adamclemans7544 Respect dude, but for me you are most notably remembered as a singer in VoM and as such when I read these latest SW lyrics, I feel like I'm reading a core song. Both the former stated reason and the actual lyrical content, being what it is, brings me to this feeling. As Someone that grew up very into the core stuff when I was younger(35 now), it just reminds me of those same lyrical themes, but with a blackened twist. I do like the lyrics as such, but I don't really like them in Skeletonwitch. I still support the band and you as the singer, honestly. Like I said I'm not big on the lyrical theme, but I like your writing style and you sound amazing and perfect in the band.

@@braqudark6217 all good dude, I respect that. Just tired of the narrative of my 2 year involvement as a teenager w/VoM somehow negates over a decade of making and performing metal. I’m no where near the same person I was back then (as I’m sure you are vastly different than your 16 year old self). The lyrical theme of Devouring was something planned by the band as a whole and not just myself. But public reception is going to be what it is.

@@adamclemans7544 Yeah I get that and I understand what you mean. That actually must be really frustrating. Apologies for adding to the cacophony. My deeper opinion is that your lyrical application is better for the band than previous stuff of theirs, but man I hope to hear you use that skill for some darker stuff with the way you weave your words.

It's definitely that Pittsburgh '76 show, but they left out "Rock 'n' Roll Doctor" and 13 minutes of jamming and soloing, which is ridiculous as that was a feature and highlight of Sabbath shows in the 1970s.

I have another question: why can't they just release the shows seperately on vinyl instead as parts of those super deluxe editions?! we all know the answer ...
@thesithempire1348
@thesithempire1348 3 жыл бұрын
@@lucalone They should release a separate Black Sabbath Live Shows box set with the COMPLETE shows of each. If that's what they're planning, then it makes sense that they would only release an expurgated version for the Super Deluxe Sets. It's kind of like the Star Wars box sets on home video. Each time they release them, there are improvements and new things, but it's never comprehensive; they're always holding something back. I just want to be alive when they finally release "When I Came Down" and all the other unreleased songs.

They’re going out of order for some reason. They started with Paranoid and skipped Master of Reality by releasing Vol. 4 next. No one knows why. Hold out hope. I’m sure SBS is coming.

There wasn't enough extra material available to release to make it worthwhile. They already dropped the ball with Sabotage, as there were no out takes or remixes, and I felt a little cheated. I did hear though the next set will be Never Say Die!
