Damn :D having people in chat giving good advice and some giving bad advice, gotta be hard haha One advice but prolly to late is to get lots of str and dex so you can use most weapons, I would even say getting 20 faith and int is also good just to be able to use all weapons and try them out. And when it comes to adp and agility, I would say that 110 is max to reach, and that is only after you have gotten spell slots if you want them, coz you can end up wasting points if you reach 110 to fast. The gap from 110 to 111 is enormous and not worth it. Adp and Atn gives agility in different ways :)

Can never go wrong with vit for health soft caps at 30-50 Stregnth typicaly for a comfortable bonk/trading hits, and makes most of the exploration pretty simple. Dex generally dps style build for if your plan is to try and delete the boss before they do anything, gonna need to dodge if they do. And magic is generally require specific setups not really worth doing unless you are doing a gimmick build around the spells or super late game and have acess to everything.

It’s 30 vit, than strength. Big weapon goes bonk is easiest to play. If you wanna learn the bosses than play Dex. If you play mage your gonna get flamed for it :)

Since you said you walked away from the game due to it being overwhelming, I'll give you some tips from the Official Elden John. The game never tells you about equip load. The more armor/weapons you have equipped, the slower you roll, making it harder to dodge attacks. If you restore your humanity at a bonfire you can kindle it to get +5 flasks. But also, if you're human you can summon co-op partners in a lot of areas. These can be NPC summons and sometimes players (though you wont get much players due to how old this game is now). Praise the Sun!
