I'd say to use polyester or cotton batting so they can wash well and wont get ruined. Polyester tends to be more durable and washes well.

So cute!! Did you have to use a different foot to sew with for the thicker fabric? I’m just getting back into sewing and have only tried thinner fabrics so far.
