Tomo, their drummer, played in a short-lived band called Beerwulf. They didn't release anything but there was a demo. Masa, one of the guitarists, played in What a Nights with George and Spalding from Minority Blues Band who released an album and a split 7" (I think). Champ, the bass player, didn't do anything else as far as I know. Gon, the other guitarist and vocalist, played drums and sang in the Miscasts who had a few releases on Snuffy Smile. I Excuse should be remembered with the same reverence as Leatherface, they were so fucking good.

20年ほど前、このMVのスタジオで働いていました。田渕さん加入前のことです。ブッチャーズの御三方は毎週スタジオ入りされて熱心かつとても人当たりの良いお客様で、吉村さんが私がかけていた音楽に興味を持たれて一言二言話したことを今でも覚えています。ですが、当時の私にはブッチャーズの良さがわかりませんでした。音楽と少し距離を置いてきましたが、私は今少しずつブッチャーズを聴き始めています。吉村さんの繊細な歌詞、メンバー皆さんのダイナミックな音の重なりが20年以上の厚みとなって、簡単に聴き進めることができません。ブッチャーズの「この曲に出会って救われた」というファンの方たちの言葉を至るところで目にします。その意味がほんの少しだけわかってきたように思います。

That opening riff to 'Frowning of a Lifetime' was replayed atleast 10 times the first time I ever heard this in 2002 before I moved onto the rest of the song. Fucking amazing.

When I was in high school, I asked Nick, an international student, what his favorite band was, and he said Hey Mercedes. At the time, I thought it was a hard-to-find CD in Japan, but surprisingly I was able to get it normally. It's a memorable band that connected me and Nick, so even after 20 years, I still remember a band called Hey Mercedes, and I was happy to find it when I searched for it on KZbin. I wonder how Nick is doing in America now... from Yoshida.
