Are you using the quantize function on the Hysteria module, or is Marbles sending quantization of the scale? Also, how are you using the Sinc Bucina?
@bartdecrem40923 ай бұрын
Hi John, my favorite quantizer module is Scales by Intellijel, which I think is hard to find these days. I don't like the built-in quantizer in Marbles - the UI makes it fussy to control for my taste. I think I used Hysteria for this session. And I used the sinc as a simple envelope generator IIRC

i can't get it to do much. maybe i need a tides instead but idk..
@bartdecrem4092 Жыл бұрын
Fastest way to get it under control is to add a quantizer after marbles- I use the discontinued intellijel scale, but there’s also 2hp tune and many others. And don’t be afraid to hit that upper right button to lock in a sequence and then just knob mash and use it like a live instrument

I'm just putting together my first Eurorack and one thing that confuses me at the moment is the quantization on the Varigates. Could you have used the inbuilt quantization on the 4+ instead of using Scales? I am looking at purchasing the Varigate 8+ and am hoping that i will not require a separate quantization module in order to tune any generative patches.
@bartdecrem4092 Жыл бұрын
yes, the varigate has decent quantization options (5 or 6 scales IIRC). I really enjoy playing with the quantization, disabling specific notes etc, as part of live jamming, so I like the additional flexibility / tactile abilities I get from Scales (the way the LEDs show you which notes are playing, and then you can tap to turn a specific note on or off...)

My biggest question is how you fit a 2hp module into a 4ms pod. I've tried MIX and ARP, both are to deep. I haven't tried my TM yet. Now, back to actually learning about the module, lol.
@bartdecrem4092 Жыл бұрын
Omg that is the worst when the modules don’t fit because of case depth. I’ve had this problem with the moog cases and also w 4ms. 4ms sells a deeper version of their cases, so that what I have. They are not as elegant looking tho

@@bartdecrem4092 Excuse my ignorance, but how!? 😄 I'm looking to get into modular and my first concern is how to actually sync all of these wonderful creations with a session on my computer. You say Ableton, but how is Ableton actually sending that clock information to Marbles, through another module off screen or straight from your audio interface? I'm confused 🤦♂️

I’m trying to wrap my head around TM in general and the sequencer. If the TM is creating the random sequence, what is the sequencer doing? I’m trying to decide if a Turing machine is what I want or Marbles. Thanks for the video.
@notsospy2 жыл бұрын
I think he is using the sequencer OUT2 and OUT4 as both a trigger output to the TM (which spits out a random note whenever it gets a trigger) and to trigger the BIA, and the OUT1 to control the BIA decay (which is CV controlled)

Hats off for Last Poets album in the background! I do hope you've heard the Be-Yond-Er section from "Delights of the Garden" - It's fucking amazing. Sadly, youtube demands it be split. On my CD copy, it's listed as 3 tracks, but plays uninterrupted as a single track that lasts almost 19 minutes. It's best heard as a single track.

Okay, since nobody else has asked... What is the album underneath? There's a gatefold vinyl cover with the lyrics, but a google search gave no results. It reads almost like the lyrics from an album by Foetus Inc. In other news, my vendor gave me a list of demo/b-stock modules that were slated to go on sale. So, I'm getting Scales (which led me here) along with Mutable Ears and Pam's. A good day. Thanks for posting, there are so many of us out here who rely on these YT videos to get our heads around this hobby.
