I don't actually know how your surface turned out(I can't analyze it) but I'm kind of sure that it shouldn't be as great because the second method that viewer used is not so good. even a perfect blend going between the flat surface and the small fillet result in a bad surface(unless I'm wrong). turning on curvature evaluation shader should show the flaw
@3DDesignAcademy
@3DDesignAcademy 24 күн бұрын
The method that I used achieved curvature in most areas. The 2nd method is actually better for curvature continuity. It might have more surface patches, but strictly continuity and cv flow wise, I think it's a very good solution.

Hello once again! I was just curious, what exactly is CAS? From what I understood its more oriented towards the design aspect of a model which worries me because I was going to learn class A surfacing exactly for that. So I'm a bit confused now on what I should learn. Thanks in advance I hope that made sense I'm a bit confused.
@3DDesignAcademy
@3DDesignAcademy Ай бұрын
CAS, as I'm sure you know, is Computer Aided Styling. It focuses more on styling and earlier parts of the design development. There's more design churn and theming, and more focus on aesthetics. CAS modelers need to be good at sketch interpretation. Think of it more as producing a concept car. It doesn't need to work 100%, but it does need to show the design vision. Class-A surfacing focuses on the latter half. There's less churn, and more focus on surface quality and engineering criteria. It requires more technical knowledge. Basically, it takes the vision and makes it work in real life, making it manufacturable. There are sculptors who can only do CAS, and there are those who might be good at creating high quality surfaces, but are not good at design interpretation. However, a good sculptor knows how to do both. If you're trying to get a job in the field, a Class-A portfolio should suffice. It just depends on how good it is. Are you trying to pursue a career in digital sculpting?
