Hi, hope you are enjoying pharmacy, it’s a great programme 😊 what I would recommend is that you use the online workshops that the library offers, as well as asking your peer mentor and tutor for support. Your peer mentor and tutor will sign-post you to the best tools available for research. I hope this helps 😊

Can you apply to Newcastle Medicine via PARTNERS ?
@StudyMedicalSciencesNCL25 күн бұрын
Hi! Yes, you can apply to our MBBS prgramme through our PARTNERS scheme. PARTNERS applicants are ranked separately to typical applicants.
@halliluyahh29 күн бұрын
Is all of this still true now ?
@StudyMedicalSciencesNCL25 күн бұрын
Hi - yes, the information regarding the course structure, placements, research opportunities and societies is still accurate. For the information on PARTNERS, applications for 2025 entry Medicine are assessed under a new admissions policy to previous years, so we are unable to advise on thresholds for the coming year. Medicine PARTNERS applicants are ranked separately to typical applicants and PARTNERS applicants to Medicine may be invited to interview with a lower UCAT score than typical applicants. This is not guaranteed each year as it depends on the performance of the applicants in that year as a whole.

How is the UCAT score given a point number? For example, if 3200 was 60 points what would the points be for the other scores?
@StudyMedicalSciencesNCLАй бұрын
Hi! We allocate points for the UCAT score as follows: >3200 = 60 points, 3199 to 3150 = 59 points, 3149 to 3100 = 58 points, 3099 to 3080 = 57 points... and so on. You can see the full table in our MBBS Admissions policy which is available on our website.

Is there a higher academic weighting scoring for PARTNERS application as applying with BBB puts you at a heavy disadvantage for the academic side eg my achieved grades are BBB but I have 9888888 which would land me with a lot more points than my a levels
@StudyMedicalSciencesNCLАй бұрын
Hi there. PARTNERS student and other applicants coming through supported entry routes do not get a higher UCAT academic score, but they are considered separately to all other applicants so there is no disadvantage.
@chestnutthesquirrelАй бұрын
For the academic screening score, what would be a typical score to secure an interview and offer?
@StudyMedicalSciencesNCLАй бұрын
Hi there! We can't give a definitive cut-off score to secure an interview as the academic screening score will change each year based on the quality of the applications we receive for that given year. For 2026 entry, we will be able to provide an indication of what it may be, based on the cut for 2025 entry. But as 2025 entry is the first year that the application process has followed this procedure, we're not yet able to provide information on this.

if i've gotten my full irish leaving cert (A level equivalent) results before applying can this fill for academic screening instead of GCSE's? Also would 2 H1s be equal to an A* or is it more complicated than that?
@StudyMedicalSciencesNCL5 ай бұрын
Hi @sss20001 - if you have completed your Irish Leaving Cert then yes, these will count as your most recently achieved grades and will be what we look at. In terms of how the grade matches to our A Level offer, you can find the Irish Leaving Certificate in the dropdown for "Other UK and the Republic of Ireland qualifications" in the Entry Requirements section of our MBBS course page: www.ncl.ac.uk/undergraduate/degrees/a100/. PLEASE NOTE: the page is currently displaying information for 2024 entry. The page will update at the end of June with details for 2025 entry, so please check back later in the month. Hi @aperson5413 - if you have completed your A levels before applying, these are your most recent grades and therefore we will not need to consider your GSCE scores. If you are still completing your A levels while applying (and therefore have predicted grades for A level), we will use your GCSEs to determine an academic score. We invite applicants to interview based on a combination of academic score and UCAT score.

Large numbers of doctors from abroad are being imported to work in our busy hospitals. There is a chronic shortage of doctors in the UK. Some of these doctors will not have gone through such a rigorous selection criteria to access to study medicine in their home country.

1/3 of the doctors in the NHS have been trained outside of the UK. There is multiple selection criteria for them to be able to come and work within the country and to make sure they are fit to practice. Educate yourself!
@ali-zl9ls28 күн бұрын
just admit you are an ignorant and belligerent racist. for a doctor who is trained outside the uk to work here they have to go through multiple medical training programs and exams which takes at least 3 years and up to 12 depending on the specialty. a consultant gynaecologist from egypt will have to undergo tests like PLAB1 and2 as well as having to start the training pathway for gynaecology, even tho they were already a consultant back in egypt. This ensures that all doctors are at the same level. you are backwards thinking and have a very big problem if you think “other countries have worse doctors” because this highlights your white superiority complex. would you have said the same if it was an american doctor? they are foreign too? people like you are the reason xenophobia is normalised in this country and i will not stand for it
