My other question is other than the error code and no speedo, is there any other issue with just not running any dongle at all? Thanks
@booger65man21 күн бұрын
I did this mod and also installed direct brake lines from Stoltec. My problem is the module I purchased from FT ECU/ABS Delete now causes the speedometer and odometer to read 30% over. I really don't care about the speedo euro but do want my odometer to show 10,000 mile when the bike has only traveled 7000 miles. I have trying to work with them for almost year to find a correction but to no avail. They seem to not even really understand what is wrong nor how to reprogram the module to correct the error. Caveat Emptor!

thanks for the video, do you need to install something in the ABS connector to ride ? Does the dash work fully without it?
@WilderMindsАй бұрын
Missed this! Sorry. ABS dongle is needed to avoid error codes in the dash. But it would work without, if the engine light wouldn’t bother you I guess ;) However, no guarantees- and I would invest in the dongle! (got mine from www.i2m.it - works great!)

Why did you change from the 701 rally to the tenere?
@WilderMinds3 ай бұрын
It wasn't a direct "swap". I sold the Husky cause 99% of the time I rode alone. The Triumph Scrambler I already had was the better bike for me at that time. I met my offroad riding buddies one or two years later, and at that time we all decided to get ourself Teneres.
@basti31213 ай бұрын
@@WilderMinds okay understand so nothing against the 701 itself. I'm asking because there is a 2017 701 with the kit 701 (but not as nice built as yours, missing the Scotts for example) for sale and I'm thinking about getting it. I'm planning on trips driving the TET Finland and mostly just exploring rock roads (and sometimes going to more extreme offroad areas). After your experience, would you recommend the 701 + kit 701 for that? Could you kind of keep up with enduros and mx bikes in the rough stuff?
@WilderMinds3 ай бұрын
I'm still a big fan of the 701 and kit690 and would always recommend it, if that's what you're after. For myself, I've got to say that I enjoy the T7 a bit more. I don't live in offroad paradise and most of the time riding includes some longer pavement stretches. The T7 engine is awesome for what I use the bike for, and after some improvements it isn't that heavy anymore and feels great. It's still not as light and nimble as the 701, but capable of stuff beyond my riding skills ;) But IF I would swap it for a lighter bike one day, I think I'd go for a 450/501. To really keep up with Enduros / MX bikes a 701 Rally build might be too heavy. I rode with some Enduro guys and sometimes it's been tough work where these guys definitely had more fun than me. I think the "one bike does it all" motorcycle doesn't exist in this case. If I would be in your situation, I think I would consider a 501. With a nav tower maybe, but if you really want to keep up with Enduros etc. I'd skip the extra front tanks.
@basti31213 ай бұрын
@@WilderMinds that sounds like solid advice, thank you! If I want, I can barely touch pavement where I live, but you are right maybe the extra tanks are too unwieldy. I plan to ride some in wilderness areas, but 250-300km range should be enough there.
@WilderMinds3 ай бұрын
You're welcome! In the end it's personal choice. From what I've heard a 501/450 would be my weapon of choice, but in the end it all comes down to what YOU want to ride! If sitting in the saddle of a fully kitted out 701 makes you more happy then squeezing out the max. performance of a smaller bike, then that's what you should go after. Have fun riding, that's what it's all about.

@WilderMinds3 ай бұрын
Hey man, great to see folks from the "old times" still being around! Husky vs. Tenere wasn't a direct "swap". I sold the Husky cause 99% of the time I rode alone. The Triumph Scrambler I already had was the better bike for me at that time. I met my offroad riding buddies one or two years later, and at that time we all decided to get ourself Teneres. Pretty funny story, cause we met, decided to go on a trip together, booked boat tickets to the canaries AND bought the bikes - all within 1 1/2 weeks. But I'll cover this in a video later this year. Already working on it! About weight: The Tenere IS heavier, BUT: After some pretty big mods (ABS delete, single brake and a lot more) it's actually not that far from the fully kitted out Husky anymore. For now it's an awesome bike, and who knows, maybe there will be a real Rallybike in the garage one day... ;)

Thanks! Still thinking about continuing. There's still terabytes of footage on my hard drives. The tools are nothing special and I don't stick to one brand. Wouldn't get the cheapest stuff, but for private use the high end tools are overkill.
