Thank you for filming my bout, Simon. I shouldn't have reacted in that way, but it was the first knockdown I'd ever scored and I was extremely frustrated by the excessive holding that was stopping me from working. I've let some of my teammates know that their bouts are on here, we really appreciate you recording.

As (for better or worse) there's only one of me I could only ever hope to cover most of the action in one of the two rings. Uploading the A/V clips is a big task when done in my spare time around the constraints of a demanding, full-time job, which is why it has taken so long. Behind the scenes I'm also contacting every University (Students' Union as well as Department of Sport and Recreation) to praise the performance of their boxers in the 2024 BUCS Championships as well as dropping a gentle hint that the Boxing Club would win more medals if it had more and better funding.

Interesting to see that on two separate occasions the Referee had to remind the Nottingham University student boxer (Blue) of his obligation to retire to a neutral corner (one with the white pads) whilst his opponent was either receiving a standing eight count, or else having his gum shield rinsed and replaced. This kind of thing should not be happening in University boxing at any level.

This video clip may have some historic value since in September 1990 the ABA of England altered its rules to permit the wearing of head guards, in competition, on a voluntary basis. In September 1991 the use of competition head guards was made compulsory on the grounds of "Health and Safety". It was not until 1997 that girls and women were allowed to compete in the Square Ring alongside their male counterparts.

It would have been nice had a few more spectators turned out to support the championships both vocally and financially, although as a blizzard was raging outside the lack of backsides on seats is perhaps understandable!
