Well, if you wanna be a musician today All you gotta do is learn how to play the guitar You really don't have to know a thing All you gotta do is put your strings on your guitar They say that it takes long straight hair But all you got to have is a [proper?] stare and the guitar All right, baby, one time, now show! Oh, yeah! [instrumental] If you wanna learn how to play You don't have to practice every day Just pick up your strings And then you've got everything So, don't hang around, wondering what to do Listen here, fella, I'm telling you Rush right down to the music stand And you will be swinging in a real good band with your guitar Ohhh, the guitar Yeah, the guitar Ohhh, the guitar, yeah!

The photo is misleading. The Beefeaters that morphed into the Byrds were around in 1964, and not associated with the recording here. This is a Texas band circa 1966, and as said by others- very similar to another Texas band at that time, 13th Floor Elevators.

I grew up with the 60's music. So blessed to have been in this time & still playing lead guitar with my fellow band members who also grew up with this music.

Does anyone remember the Damnation of Adam Blessing? They used to come to our sock hops in Solon, Ohio in late 60s early 70s.

you walk into a room and see the floor running past you look at the ceiling till you see there's a doctor up in the corner when you fall to the wall, with you love that you start to follow and then smile the easy way, this is how it ought to be it has captured all my thoughts, girl, yeah some people say that I'm alone, yeah they can't understand the reason why when the bell of nighttime rings i see the pretty things this is why i sing to you this is why i capture your thoughts too and this is what i know is true [instru] and you know it just can't be there won't be a place for me if they ever made a place to go [and girl, oh, i feel just like you?]

These guys were local legends in my home town of Miami, Florida. In the mid 60's if the Squiremen IV (later The Squiremen) were performing at our Jr. High (Ponce De Leon) or High School (Coral Gables) event you knew it was a big deal. These guys were really good and very professional. I was a young drummer and would watch the drummer with his black tiger striped Ludwig kit. He used to play drums with knee-high Indian moccasin boots and I always thought that was cool. The lead singer was cool and I think he was the oldest. They did a killer version of You Keep Me Hanging On by Vanilla Fudge and a great version of Mercy, Mercy, Mercy by The Buckinghams.
