Why not offer a new tender of nuclear submarines including France ? Or, do fifty-fifty in building next generation diesel subs for say Indonesia. Australians know France throws tantrums, is irritable and revengeful. Surely, Oz thought of some alternative acquisitions. Forget France on major capital works? France’s sovereign rating is AA- negative outlook; Australia’s AAA Stable. IF things heat up with China in the Indo-Asia Pacific, Australia, over the next decade could be spending be USD 1 trillion on Defence. Happy to buy cars, just not military equipment. Five years from now, Australia should be able to even service nuclear submarines for other like Countries, other countries except France. France should be downgraded from Ally to Friend.

Aistralia wanted nuclear subs (and best ones around) would France ever sell them to Australia?
@dononeill17843 жыл бұрын
The estimate at completion of the former French program to deliver 12 submarines was $90 billion, with $66 billion spent on six submarines. Overall, the French program, despite its best effort, was not meeting expectations. A strategic revision was considered necessary.
@CrèmeTropBrûlée3 жыл бұрын
I think it's funny to see now that not only you will wait for much longer to have either UK or US nuclear sub but also meawhile you will have to keep upgraded, yet outdated, Collins sub. Also those new nuclear subs won't likely be built in Australia unlike the French ones so you are have hitted your own economy and also your own military because you have no sovereignty on this nuclear technology wich means you will be used by the USA as a proxy pawn in their commercial war with China and if you don't agree well you won't have much control on your military assets. This whole disaster is above all a disaster for Australia.
@parklilys31083 жыл бұрын
Watch out Australians, the future may not be that bright as you wish by doing America's bidding. There is a low probability that two nuclear powers will directly fight militarily, but there is a high probability that the two powers will coexist. A deal could be worked out between the two powers and Australia would be a sole loser.

-- INFIDELS’ AID -- According to Taliban (whom are Pushtoons), foreigners are infidels. So why Pushtoons on both sides of the border are ALWAYS begging for infidels’ money. The former 2 governments (whom were mostly made up of Pushtoons in key posts), the former presidents (Ashraf Ghani and Hamid Karzai), and Zalmay Khalilzad (US Ambassador on Afghanistan Affairs) - all Pushtoons. They scammed Afghans and US literally giving Afghanistan, and whatever money and military equipment US had left, to their brothers Taliban (again - all Pushtoons). It’s ironic that that’s not enough and they’re now begging for international community’s money again. Pakistan (which means pure or Islamic only), swallows up billions for US aid $ annually in the name world peace and cooperation, yet harbors state terror (Islamic fanaticism / wahabiesm). Taliban are a Pakistani product. Pakistan is a traditional / orthodox Sunni state. Pakistan’s intelligence community or ISI (or the Punjabis), want to push Pakistani Pushtoons over to Afghanistan. Why? Pushtoons have been problematic for Pakistan. They don’t have the same culture as Punjabis. Pushtoons are not civil and do not commit themselves to modern ways. They don’t educate their young; and instead teach them to carry guns and fight (protect their honor / women - which means stop them from learning). That’s why all young men from the Pakistani Pushtoon community are now in Afghanistan supporting Taliban / Daeish. They’re NOT Afghans. Taliban / Daish ideology are the same and will not survive in Afghanistan. Tajiks, Hazaras, and Uzbeks ARE the original inhabitants of that geography. Pushtoons (whom primarily support Taliban / Daeish) are migrants to this region. Those who know history are well aware of this. So money given to Taliban now (in the form of aid, etc.), will not reach the poor Afghans. Instead, it’ll be used for fanaticism, wahabiesm, and the further suppression of women and non-Pushtoons (Tajiks, Hazaras, and Uzbeks).

Malaysia and Indonesia are sitting on the fence waiting for the outcome of the Taiwan situation. If China succeeds in the ‘annexation’ of Taiwan ( invasion) it will represent a great humiliation to the US. Alliances and military treaties between the allies will be greatly devalued overnight. Both Indonesia and Malaysia will probably jump ‘all in’ to the Chinese camp. Then the strategic threat to Australia will become so much greater. The prospect of an Asian alliance staring down on an underpopulated landmass rich with resources means Australia will have no choice but to acquire nuclear weapons

This time , this childish Scott Morrison is foolishly playing with inferno fire .
@brucegibbins37923 жыл бұрын
Dny sby.Your observation, is I think, correct. Morrison is fixated on China and with a neurosis he views China as being on its way to fulfil wnat Scomo appears also to belied is its ambition for territorial aquisition. Morrisons fixation carries with it a real risk of depending almost exclusively on a Nuclear Powered Submarine deterrence to fix. If the children in Canberra believe with certainty that China represents a very real threat of militarily isolating Australia, the a strategy that depends on a SSBN deterrent will need China's cooperation to achieve. China will need, at Australia's insistence, to suspend any possible plans of expansion for up to twenty years, perhaps only ten thinking optimistically, until the first of the American built boats are ready for sea and that's if the United States can spare even one from their own three sub building programe. A built for purpose servicing facility near Adelaide is planned as being necessary and sufficiantly staffed largely by American Navy specialst nuclear technicians to service the new Submarines while training locals to take the final responsibility for themselves. However, the jumbuck in the billabong here is that it would take the Americans a huge leap of faith to share their nuclear technology with Australia - Britains Royal Navy has been so far allowed to benefit from Americas sharing of things nuclear. Will Australia be allowed also to share US nuclear technology? Given Australia's historic perfity in their relations with France over the purchase of that countries Submarines, leaving a notional hole in the country's Treasury accounts of some $2.8 billion in lost deposits, but not actually paid before cancellation, that Australia will probably try to wriggle out of paying anyway. Then there is a matter of Australia seeking to sign off on an FTA with the EU that would not be able to proceed with even just one current EU member withholding their country's signature, suggesting that Australia will need to act far more agreeably towards France if The Lucky Country, Australia continues to seek the EU FTA deal. The vagaries of geopolitics is often unfathomable to most regular folks so the final outcome is probably difficult to predict and a likely folly to even try. They, France, may not, now that Australia has dropped the diplomatic ball with them, yet some skilled negotiating by Australia may succeed in having their cake and eating it too. Only time will tell and along with a possible change of government, if Australia can pull any of this off and ultimately benefit from these various shenanigans it has created for itself along the way turn out not to be a barrier. Until then, Australia's immediate neighbors to the north and probably far out into the Pacific too, will be hand wringing with fearful uncertainty until their large boofhead neighbor settles back down again after a good strong cuppa tea and a nice lay down.

@16:08 , Australia and co are taking about war with China because they are afraid of a non- European/colonial country having great power . Simple. It will be like if Africa and its countries came together with its resources and power will definitely be the world's largest economy etc. and that is a bitter pill to swallow. All you have to do is check your history, Australia doesn't care about Taiwan. REMEMBER Australia was created by the Uk as a prison colony , and that's why the aboriginal people have been wiped out , etc , bottom line it's about control. And it's no longer colonial robbery times , other countries want to rise AND should be s as allowed to . A lot of countries are following China and are eradicating poverty, hunger and are using their resources for their people. And that's a problem for all these post colonial countries that RELY ON THE WEALTH OF OTHERS , and their is lots of other "excuses to try degrade China. Everyone do you own research and check your history and the answers will be clear. It's all there . The powers that be can't just lie to you anymore. All the information is there p.s the world is really bothered about Taiwan and China . Yeah right! . Feed your own people and look after your own people's rights , don't worry about Taiwan.

China is doing what the west has done for the last 400 years At least they are in their own area and not robbing countries resources! That's why the west is panicking, it's not a "colonial European Anglo greedy imperialism country " why else do you think no other country can get stronger e,g Africa with all its resources, in fact any other country if it hasn't got colonial roots , it's a problem for the "Anglo ""Democratic, 😂 " west .

Sorry for the delayed reply, Daviti! Some Fulbright programs allow applicants to submit from abroad, but generally speaking, yes you would likely need to return to Georgia to undertake an interview. Your U.S. J1 visa would also need to be issued via your country of citizenship. It's hard to say what your chance of success would be (depends on how strong your application is!), but your chance of failure is 100% if you don't try :) As a first step, I'd recommend reaching out to the U.S. Embassy in Georgia to ask them what kind of applicant they're seeking this round: ge.usembassy.gov/education-culture/exchange-programs/fulbright-graduate-student-program-announcement/

I’m seriously asking this question. If you care about our elections, please respond! For what good purpose should who you vote for be held in secrecy? In order to maintain legitimacy in our elections voters should be given a receipt of their vote with a unique identifier and if the total results are posted publicly and electronically providing the voters identifier and who they voted for is the only way we can know for certain that our elections are not compromised. Those ballots not counted should also be public information and held for accountability. Are you for or against this? Do you think this is possible? If this can be done for the Nov. 3, 2020 election would you support it even if imposing this could cause a delay in the election? Providing your reasoning could be very helpful. thank you

If you're applying in a discipline that requires evidence of writing ability (eg. It can be on any topic, however topics that are related to your project would be advisable. If a writing sample is unnecessary/unrelated to your project, you are free to leave this section blank.

Hi Ruth, Thank you for hosting this webinar! My question is regarding Fulbright state sponsored scholarship applications. I think you have pretty much answered my question in this presentation, but I wanted to seek a little more clarification. The state sponsored scholarship asks me to describe how my proposed project will bring specific benefits to my particular field of research and how this will benefit my State. I wanted to ask how tangible the outcomes/benefits of my research need to be at this application stage in order to make a good case for receiving this scholarship. I understand that if I could point to specifics and/or measurable outcomes this would make for a stronger application, but is it possible to take a more speculative/philosophical approach to this question? For example, is it reasonable to say that I don’t know yet what the specific outcomes might be, but that I see my research being applicable in ‘X’ area(s) and that I would expect to have a better idea of how I might make my ideas a reality once I’ve completed my research in the United States? Thanks in advance for your advice, Grace
@fulbright_australia8 жыл бұрын
Dear Grace, Try to find a balance between concrete, tangible outcomes that may be unrealistic or difficult to accurately project, and generic, unspecified outcomes that don't demonstrate your commitment to making a real contribution to the field in your State. The Selection Committees understand that some research fields are dynamic and projects may evolve over time, however they will be looking for some evidence of real-world impact.
