Despite being a Brit, I have only recently become aware of Rachel. I am now trawling KZbin to find more of her artistry. I'm just knocked over by this performance.

I was fortunate enough to be helping look after the children’s choir. An amazing day of fantastic music. Listening to some of it again and hearing Rosie’s narration is just magical!

Absolutely wonderful playing Anna. The first section is one of my all time favourites from Bach. Seeing you play with all that amazing normally unseen footwork going on , reminds me of the serene swan gliding along the river, while paddling like mad below.

Down yonder green valley, where streamlets meander, When twilight is fading I pensively rove; Or at the bright noontide in solitude wander, Amid the dark shades of the lonely ash grove. 'T was there, while the blackbird was joyfully singing, I first met that dear one, the joy of my heart! Around us for gladness the bluebells were ringing, Ah! then little thought I how soon we should part. Still glows the bright sunshine o'er valley and mountain, Still warbles the blackbird its note from the tree; Still trembles the moonbeam on streamlet and fountain, But what are the beauties of nature to me? With sorrow, deep sorrow, my bosom is laden, All day I go mourning in search of my love. Ye echoes, oh, tell me, where is the sweet maiden? "She sleeps, 'neath the green turf down by the ash grove".

Good performance. This begs a listen of Michel Chapuis' version with is more relaxed and breathing while maintaining a steady pace at a similar tempo. André Isoir's version is also wonderful.

Is it just me or am I hearing e naturals on measure 33 on the first movement on both hands when they are supposed to be e flats…?! Anybody cares to confirm? It just sounds so strange after the theme exposition on the dominant..

edopitu…You’re right. In measure 33, she plays in the alto E natural instead of E flat.

York Minster? isn't it cheating for the Ryedale Festival to to use a profitably-large venue (that's outside Ryedale)? Just kidding; I was a Helmsley/Ryedale Festival "Slave" for 16 years and it's always good to see it still going. We occasionally tinkered with the district boundaries too. And the health & safety rules. And the speed limit. And bent a few other laws when things got desperate. But (although it came bloody close on a couple of occasions) nobody got killed.

Hi Daniel - Yes, we're a 'flexible' operation, and have to extend our boundaries occasionally for pragmatic reasons - but you know what they say ... "There's no place like home" - and you may be interested to know that the launch concert for this year's events (to be announced soon I think), will begin at the beginning in Helmsley!

Rachel's performance is top notch as violinist and very epic to represent the true Baroque interpretation of this beautiful solo violin performance. Rachel Podger performed this Heinrich Biber's "Passacaglia "'The Guardian Angel' - to PERFECTION and this video of solo violinist at the epic of her career to showcase her expressive interpretation in an elegant, poetic and evocative of Baroque music. Kudos to her. Everyone here should appreciate violin music in comparison to guitar

...beso... ...es que Rachel es una monada...
