I’m a pretty poor fisherman, but a pretty good sailor, so I’ll share what I’m good at: Heave To Want to filet a fish without rolling? Heave to. Want to transfer diesel from a jerry can to the diesel tanks? Heave to. Cut yourself and need the boat to tend to herself while both of you are doctoring or being doctored? Heave to. Or how about this one… it’s been blowing 30kts for the last day and a half and you’d really like to poop without being thrown off the head!?!? Yeah, you guessed it… heave to! Fair winds and I’m glad to see you back posting, lovely show you have shared with the world!

Great video!! Thank you for sharing this with us. Looking forward to seeing your next challenge. We’re currently in the Bahamas - where did you get your Hawaiian sling from? Also, if you don’t mind sharing this, what where some of your best spots to spear? 🐟
@waterpeople-expedition9 ай бұрын
Thanks Manu and Max :) Awesome that you're currently in the Bahamas! To begin with we tried basic polespears and slings bought in local shops but it was a struggle for us to catch anything. Will Trubridge in the film was using a Guerrilla Sling made by Headhunter Spearfishing (who are based in Florida), and we ourselves started having success using their Nomad and Predator polespears. It was truly a gamechanger, and I would highly recommend their stuff. Always tricky getting things shipped to the boat while cruising but in this case it's absolutely worth it! www.headhunterspearfishing.com/ In terms of spots it's such a vast area and there's so much to discover of course. If you send us a private message (on something like instagram) I'll tell you about one of our favourite areas

The shot composition and colorgrading here are really next level! Specifically the color grading how do you do that?!
@waterpeople-expedition Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! We’re filming in a log colour profile, editing in Final Cut X, exporting as ProRes 4444, and using DaVinci Resolve for colour corrections and grading. (Using ‘scene cut detection’ in Resolve to separate back into individual shots prior to working).

Another great video. I really love how you combine great video shots and insights about life. Yes, money issues can really ruin your day, anywhere in the world. So why not have them in Paradise :) instead of in some gray city apartment? :D Whatever life throws at you, it always goes on. It's just a cloud moving by, but the sun always keeps shining. All the best wishes to you.

Hi, lovely footage (except the poor lobster). What is it you guys work at to fund the trip?
@waterpeople-expedition2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Fergus! Most of our work now is remote video editing for clients and the occasional filming shoot. This is supplemented by contributions for these videos on Patreon. For our new Water People project we have a partnership with a non-profit who has similar objectives, so this helps a bit too. This combination allows us to just about pay the bills and keep the boat afloat.

Lovely start. Spoiled by a Paetron reference.Ads? So refreshing to be different from the usual go south click bait bikini...yawn.
@waterpeople-expedition2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Fergus, appreciate that :) We find KZbin ads spoil the experience so we turn off the monetisation option and we buy music licenses to be sure that ads don’t come on. Instead we prefer to use Patreon. The monthly contributions we get pays some of the expenses such as hard drive space and music rights. We need all the help we can get to continue the videos because we don’t have savings and already we do other jobs along the way to just about pay our bills. Patreon works great because it keeps the videos free to everyone and with no ads, while giving the option to help us out for those that want to. So with that being said, we’ll always need to mention Patreon.
